Guest Moneyball
Rotoworld: The Yankees may be interested in getting Al Leiter if they don't trade for Shawn Chacon. According to the New York Daily News, he could even possibly be starting for the Yankees on Sunday, but Chacon seems like the more realistic possibility. Das Texan
i have actually heard pavano's name thrown around in relation to this. i dont know why though, other than yankee desperation, and leiter fits in with that team.....

strandedx02
Look at it like this...tonight's starter for the Yankees gave up 6 runs in 1+. Al could probably go 3 before he gave up that many.
Passion
The Red Sox are reportedly looking at him... I hope this is posturing so that the Yankees rush out and do something stupid like...sign Al Leiter...heh

Bryan
good. give us some return on our investment. 856858[/snapback] Its being reported that the Marlins in the end will get no player back in the deal, and that the Yankees are paying just 400K of Leiter's contract. If the 5 inning wonder can even give us 2 average starts out of 15 - for 400K, it was worth it.
Accord
Leiter is starting tomorrow vs. the Red Sox, can you imagine him facing the stacked Sox lineup? LMAO :lol $100 says he won't get out of the first inning.

You need to get your facts lined up before declaring falsity in a statement. You heard that the Marlins are picking about 3.5 million of his contract. Thats right, you are....Of the remaining contract. Which means you end up saving about 400K. 8-4 (already paid) - 3.6 (paying still) = 7.6. Thats 400K. Dont start saying my posts arent true when you don't have your facts straight. The Marlins will NOT get a player back in this deal, Brian Cashman - the Yankees GM - who I am 99.9% certain knows more than you says the Yankees aren't giving up a player. Im not sure if its because it hinges on Leiter's performance with the Yankees or not, but dont expect anything assuming it does. EDIT: From RotoWorld- "The Yankees' press release says there's a player to be named involved, but GM Brian Cashman is saying it's a straight cash transaction. The Yankees are expected to pay $400,000 of the $2.8 million Leiter is owed over the rest of the year. Leiter was added to the 25-man roster and will start tomorrow against the Red Sox. It's pretty hard to like his chances of helping the Yankees, but he's probably a better choice than Darrell May, Tim Redding or Aaron Small. The Bombers still need to have some interest in Shawn Chacon. Jul. 16 - 6:33 pm et" Don't question my credibility when you didn't even take the time to do the math or find out from an article somewhere. Thanks!
