calvinball
Are there any Kevin Orie fans out there from his stint with the Marlins from '98 to '99? If so, you will be glad to know that he is still playing pro ball although it is at the AAA level now. He is with the New Orleans Zephyrs (Nationals organization), and I am going to get a chance to see him in action against the Memphis Redbirds Saturday night. I have never been to Auto Zone Park in Memphis but I hear it is one of the best minor league parks out there. I will be pulling for Orie to have a big day. Flag Man
Thanks for the up-date on Kevin Orie. I didn't follow his career after he left the Marlins but I enjoyed watching him while he was here. He was a Class Pro at a time we needed such. Glad to hear he's in the Nat's farm chain. Would appreciate hearing how's he's doing. (I want to look up his age.) edit: He'll be 33 on 9/1. Hanleylicious
He batted .344 in 180 AB at AA, and is now batting over .430 in 53 AB at AAA Full Stats
calvinball
Orie had an excellent night going 2-4 with 5 RBI's. He hit his 14th HR of the season. New Orleans won in a rout 12-3. Memphis is a great place to watch a game. I picked up some Rendezvous Ribs a couple of blocks from the stadium and, then, proceeded to enjoy one of the best ballpark hotdogs I have ever eaten. It was a great night with a big crowd and perfect weather. I love minor league baseball.
calvinball
Orie has been at AAA all year. He was with the Nashville Sound through mid June (Brewers AAA affiliate), and he's now found his way to New Orleans (Nat's AAA affiliate).
