Posted July 18, 200519 yr I replied this, but I think it was my best post ever so I decided to give it a go as its own topic: Holy crap WildMarlin2003, we agree on something. And I am suprised someone else brought Bostik up, but I am glad, the kid is a good lefty with hopefully a bright future, who I think will be good as a spot starter/reliever some day, and another good young arm to offset Resop in the bullpen. Cinci would prob actually want Tankersly instead of either Penn or Johnson to get a LHP/RHP combo, hoping that they could develop quickly and be ready to be inserted into their rotation next year or the year after as young lefty/righty one two punch(plus they MIGHT want Bigbie to help ease the loss of Dunn, or we could keep him to backup along with Aguila). I wouldn't be as sad to see Willingham go as many others. And yes, our farm system is stocked and will probably stay stocked, as that seems to be the direction we are going lately in the draft going after good young arms. Plus we could afford Dunn, and possibly trade Enc for more bullpen help freeing up more cash. But my guess is, from now on, our rotation and most of the bullpen will be built from within, and keeping enough money from year to year to keep our pitching here. Plus, I think this move is also a way of freeing up $$ to resign Gonzo. And just look at our lineup next year: CF Pierre 2B Castillo 3B Cabrera 1B Delgaso LF Dunn C Lo Duca RF Hermida SS Gonzalez Rotation: Beckett Willis Olsen Johnson/Penn Vargas Good young lineup, with Castillo, Lo Duca, and Delgado being the only starters lineup/rotation over 30.
July 18, 200519 yr Author that's your best post ever....? 862163 Well ya, I am not usually so objective and I just wine about everyone wanting to get rid of Lowell and everyone thinking we have no shot at resigning Burnett, I aint a big fan of pessimism. Maybe not my "best ever" but probably my least arguementative.
July 18, 200519 yr That better? 862175 Kinda long...you could have just posted this in the other Lowell/Burnett threads.
July 18, 200519 yr That better? 862175 Kinda long...you could have just posted this in the other Lowell/Burnett threads. 862189 But then he wouldn't be headlining a thread.
July 18, 200519 yr Author lol naw, I just think I made a few good points. I dont care about headlining a thread.

July 18, 200519 yr Johnson/Penn We just had an Orioles guy on the boards a few hours ago and he mentioned Penn won't be ready for another 3-4 years. How do you plan on acquiring Dunn without Penn? Penn is going to be involved in any other trade we make this year.

July 19, 200519 yr Author I dont care what ESPN says, I trust Cbs Sportsline more than them. And if you read, a combination of Penn, Tankersly, and Willingham for Dunn, in hopes(Cincinnattis) that Tankersly/Penn will develop into a good young lefty/righty combo in the rotation.

July 19, 200519 yr I really would hate to see Lowell go. I know a few years from now we are going to regret ever trading him.
