SongInTheAir
The Boston Globe is reporting that the Red Sox are designating reliever Alan Embree for assignment. Odd timing, as Embree has pitched better lately. His big problem is the eight home runs he's allowed this season, but the last one of those came a month ago. You can be sure there will be plenty of interest in him if he's allowed to become a free agent. King Marlin 21
Would be a solid edition if we are still in this thing in 10 days
TSwift25
I've always thought of him as one of the better lefty specialists, but what's the use? Bullpen is full and I think we're thisclose to just calling it a season. However, if bullpen pitching is at such a premium, what does it say about Embree to have him simply designated for assignment with the deadline a week and a half away... strandedx02
He's been a disaster this season. Every time he comes in I pretty much have to get away from the TV.
Guest FishFanInPA
found this on rotoworld Walter Johnson's grave has been dug up and it has been found that he was holding a baseball in his hand. Some are saying he can play baseball despite being dead for many years. The Marlins are interested in this "live" arm Should we get him??? Rdsxmbnt
Im a big Red Sox fan and the last guy you want to see in a close game is embree. And just so you know embree is NOT a lefty specialist and never has been. Lefties are batting like .310 this season against embree and all he does is ruin games now. Marlins2003
Alan Embree makes Darren Oliver look like Cy Young. When I was in Boston recently and upon returning listening to WEEI, if you think we get on pitchers, we treat them like saints in comparison to what was uttered in a non-stop barrage regarding Mr. Embree. He's been awful, beyond awful, worse than that. No. :thumbdown
MarlinFan10
Last time the Marlins picked up a bullpen arm that Boston released, it worked out pretty well. (assuming Chad Fox was the last one)

Tek tC
embree has lost all velocity as a pitcher that used to hit 96 on the radar gun, he no longer has that in him and is struggling to adapt. if he can regain his control he might have better luck, way too many homers given up this year. On a positive note, the last few months he hasnt had a chance to work out of jams. Many of Embree's earned runs are because of Timlin's inability to strand runners. Embrees last few outings have been better, so I see him having at least a little left in the tank, but there is a reason the sox are cutting him
futureslugger
get him..try him out..possibly wait for embree to become a free agent and then sign him for minimum salary? and please TRADE RIEDLING
Valyekrin
Why not try him? Not like watching our Bullpen has been exactly enjoyable, at this point I'm willing to try anyone!... Except Steve Kline and Steve Reed. NO THANK YOU!

NO THANK YOU! 866557[/snapback] Kline and Reed have been worlds better than Embree this season, but at least we don't have to give up AJ to get Embree... :whistle If Embree were to come here: everyone get their plates ready, it's time for...
