Juan Encarnacion (wrist) is still day-to-day.

It's reported that he's making progress, so we'll hopefully see him in the lineup today or tomorrow. Aug. 9 - 8:57 am et

Paul Lo Duca's (hamstring) injury is expected to keep him out of the lineup until Wednesday.

That's old news, but yesterday it led to a great Jack McKeon quote. ''He's going to work out a little bit [today] and see what he can do,'' McKeon said. ``[but] I don't think we'll see him the first two games with Arizona. Unless our trainer goes to that Billy Graham school where he can lay the hands on him and heal him.'' Nice. Aug. 9 - 8:56 am et

So by Thursday we could have all three? That would be an awesome boost

I believe they said Delgado wouldn't come off the DL until Friday at the earliest.

Even that feels like good timing. :)

It does, but that's the earliest he could come off, and they mentioned he probably won't.

On the pregame show Jack indicated that LoDuca would likely come back first, with Delgado following a couple of days later, perhaps by the weekend series.

As long as we start getting people back it will be fine. We are very lucky that we are on a huge homestand and playing inferior teams.

***UPDATE***

The Marlins still aren't sure when any of the three injured players -- Carlos Delgado, Juan Encarnacion and Paul Lo Duca -- will be able to play. Delgado is eligible to come off the disabled list Friday.

Here are the updates for all three:

? Delgado received a cortisone shot in his injured left hand Saturday when he was examined by the team's hand specialist.

Delgado said he hoped to be able to hit off a tee today and perhaps take batting practice Thursday. If everything goes well, he said he might be able to play Friday.

''I feel bad because we can't do anything about it,'' said Delgado, adding that he believed he injured his hand while taking a swing in a game against the Pirates on July 27, the last time he played.

Delgado took batting practice when the team was in Cincinnati last week, but he said his hand hurt him so badly that ``basically, I couldn't hold the bat.''

? Encarnacion, who has an injured left wrist, joked to reporters that there has been enough improvement that he can now ``eat with it.''

Encarnacion, who is not on the disabled list, practiced off a hitting tee Tuesday.

''It's much better,'' he said. ``I'm going to see how it feels and then we'll see what we're going to do about it.''

McKeon said Encarnacion was available to pinch run, but that was about it.

? Lo Duca has a sore right hamstring and could be available by the weekend, if not earlier.

McKeon said Lo Duca could be used as a late-inning pinch-hitter, but only in an RBI situation in which he wouldn't be required to run. Lo Duca also isn't on the disabled list.

Paul Lo Duca - C - FLA

Paul Lo Duca (hamstring) took batting practice and did light jogging and lunges on the side.

''It feels actually pretty good,'' Lo Duca said, adding he will ''try to take it to the next level'' today by running full speed. He is hoping to return to action in today's game. Aug. 12 - 10:38 am et
