Pick one and explain.

Should be interesting.

I went with Mota because the bullpen is going to have to be a strength for us, and with Jones doing about as good a job as is humanly possible, we need someone to bridge the gap between the starters and Jones. I guess an honorable mention goes to Alfonseca.

I'm going with Vargas. After our Big 3 there is a significant drop off in our starting pitchers. Up until 2 starts ago. Before that, we went from having " The Big 3" to having "The Four Horsemen". The AJ, Big Tex, and D-Train cant shoulder the load all on their own, we need Vargas to get back to where he was, and let the Four Horsemen ride again.

Edit: "The AJ" was a typo, but I like how that sounds.

I say JP. Why? Well, this team has a serious lack of power. Early base runners are key. Juan gets on base, and things happen... most of the time. Luis is a great 2 hole guy; battles at the plate, gets a lot of pitches, and provides Miggy and Carlos the opportunity to see pitches. Our three and four hole guys are going to drive in most of our runs, with Ency throwing in the occasional RBI. So JP has to be the guy to get that going. He is the key, IMO. When JP has a dirty uni after inning one, that's often a good sign. I don't have the stats, nor the drive to look them up right now. But I'd be willing to say that when JP goes "O-For", our record is below .500.

The four horsemen huh?

wonder where that is from? :)

anyway i think JP is the answer. he has to go on fire and get back to the way he was in 03 hitting for a high average and stealing bases. jp making things happen when he has to, making clutch hits and playing great defense. i say Jp he is our lead off man for a reason.

We are 17-25 when Pierre goes hitless.

My point exactly. Thanks for doing the homework, cause I'm a lazy bastard.

Write In Vote: Mike Lowell

he has been reduced to a role player now but if he could give us David Eckstein-like pop that would be amazing

agree, If he can go one or two innings and be the Mota we know he can be, our pitching will be great.

haha I actually lol'd at that statement

But I agree. If Jack and company refuse to sit Lowell this last month for whatever dumb reason we are going to need some sort of production from him

Juan Pierre easily.

Most teams don't win when their leadoff hitter has a poor day

but if he could give us David Eckstein-like pop that would be amazing

:lol :notworthy

Juanpy.

Runs, for the most part, is our problem right now. If Delgado and Cabrera are going to be the only ones driving in runs anyways, it'd be nice if they had someone consistently to drive in.

If Hermi can be a catalyst for the offense, the Fish will be more unstoppable than water coming over a breach in a levee system.

Tough to pick just one. We need more than just 3 good starting pitchers, so Vargas is key. Same with Mota --Jones can't hold the 'pen together all by himself.

JP for all the reasons stated before I posted.

The Hermida/Lowell situation could also play a BIG role.

Jp. Same reasons listed.

JP for obvious reasons.

pierre, he's the sparkplug of the team. not reading the other posts don't care...
