Posted August 13, 200321 yr As Ramp knows (he was giving me updates on AIM for a half hour or so last nite), I am in D.C. and am having so much trouble following the Marlins. Here's the thing: I can only go on the internet during the day when I'm working. For being at a 4-star hotel, I get screwed by not getting high-speed access in my room. And since this old-fashioned dialup always gives me crap (and the fact that it was down yesterday anyway), I had to go into the business center, pay a 2.99 fee, plus 25 cents a minute to be online. Needless to say...dedication to the Marlins (and I cant live without AIM!). Anyway, I got on in the 12th inning...ramp gave me some updates, I was on the game thread for a bit, and I had CBS Sportsline giving me updates. Of course, when I sign off, and finally catch the ticker on the bottom of CNN, ESPN, and ESPN2 at the right time, I find out the Marlins win on Ramon Castro's GW HR! Holy crap! Eventually I get to see it on BBTN. Woo! We are in 1st in the Wild Card....alone! Maybe I need to be out of town more often. Actually, it sucks. I think I'd rather sacrifice winning to be able to follow my team. I'm definitely not the jinx that Wild Card is! Anyway, I'm gonna try gettin on for a few minutes tonite as well. I dont think the game is on tv is it? (by TV I mean ESPN or ESPN2). I should be off and on (when I get breaks) during the day though.
August 13, 200321 yr Tonights game is the alternate on ESPN2, but in D.C., youll get the main ESPN2 game, the tremendously important San Diego-Atlanta game.
August 13, 200321 yr The Marlins game tonight will be on espn2 alternate on satellite and will be shown on espn2 in la/anaheim, san diego, and atlanta.
August 13, 200321 yr Ross, you mean tonight it is on ESPN2? That means I can actually watch the game tonight! Furman, you should try living in Tallahassee - it is a doldrum for us Marlin fans. The only games I get to see are nationally televised ones...Believe me, I have tried everything.
August 13, 200321 yr Author braves game it is...even though i probably could watch it on tbs too...awesome
August 13, 200321 yr Anyone happen to know the C-band satellite (Big dish) station for the ESPN2Alt feed? Last time they were on ESPN2 Alternate, I never found it.
August 13, 200321 yr Just a thought for those of you lacking TV coverage: Anyone here try their cell phones? I have T-Mobile as my service provider and I can practically get play-by-play, pitch-by-pitch coverage (as long as I keep hitting refresh). It really works out well when I'm not at home or at the ballpark or when I'm following other games (like the Phillies).

The only games I get to see are nationally televised ones...Believe me, I have tried everything. you can try to get...MLB.TV.COM...i think, its a link off MLB. com and for about 70 bucks a year you can watch almost every game of every team every day off your comp.
August 13, 200321 yr Maybe it's just my opinion...but the Marlins gave up the opportunity to be broadcast state-wide after the great 1997 Fire Sale. :confused
August 13, 200321 yr you can try to get...MLB.TV.COM...i think, its a link off MLB. com and for about 70 bucks a year you can watch almost every game of every team every day off your comp. no you cant.... you get about 80 games per team, id say
August 13, 200321 yr Anyone happen to know the C-band satellite (Big dish) station for the ESPN2Alt feed? Last time they were on ESPN2 Alternate, I never found it. i dont know if i have the same dish as you, but my espn is channel 206, espnews 207, espn 2 208 and alternate around 209(it just appears)
August 13, 200321 yr no you cant.... you get about 80 games per team, id say oooh....damn MLB.com rip off but still if your desperate for marlins games i guess it would be alright to see half of them
August 13, 200321 yr Author unfortunately, internet is the main problem here. If I had internet access (that didnt cost 2.99 + $0.25 a minute), I would just open up CBS Sportsline, the game thread on here, and some ESPN.com board action, and I'd be set. Heck, sometimes i do that at home when I could actually be watching the game on tv (i just luv yall so much! lol).
August 13, 200321 yr It sucks to be over there. It is really tough to see marlin games. I hope you come back soon....
August 13, 200321 yr Author well, im in D.C. till Friday morning. Then Ill be in FL till Aug. 29th, when I go back up to school. After that, I won't spend more than a few weeks at a time in FL probably for the rest of my life. I wont be spending anymore summers in FL...ill be trainin with the team all summer (except for a few times ill come visit).
August 13, 200321 yr i dont know if i have the same dish as you, but my espn is channel 206, espnews 207, espn 2 208 and alternate around 209(it just appears) Sounds like you have DirectTV or something like that. I have one of the huge satellite dishes that uses the C-Band satellites. For instance, ESPN and ESPN2 are located on channels G5-9 and G5-14. Thanks for trying though!
