MIAMI ? (AP) ? Miami and Florida International will play

in the 2006 and 2007 seasons, marking the first matchups of

two schools with campuses 11 miles apart in South Florida.

Both games will be played at Miami's Orange Bowl.

??Now that we will play 12 games every year, we want to

play seven home games if we can, and that increases our

revenue and is good for our fans,'' Miami athletic director

Paul Dee said.

Miami made some ticket concessions to FIU as part of the

deal, Dee said.

Florida International is in its fourth season of football,

yet has already ascended to the Division I-A ranks and is a

full member of the Sun Belt Conference. The roster, like

Miami's, is composed almost entirely of players who grew up

in South Florida.

??These games will have a tremendous impact on our

program,'' FIU athletic director Rick Mello said.

The games are scheduled for Oct. 14, 2006 and Oct. 6,

2007.

yea these are going to be real nail bitters.......

Awesome hopefully someday this becomes an actual rivalry.

Will FIU students get free tickets?

sweet

*puts off graduation till december*

How badly will UM dismember the FIU team?

I guess its an extra home game and a free win, but it would be nice to go after other teams.

I don't give a damn if we get clobbered, i'll definitely be there.

Im also a FIU STUDENT!! I'll be there for sure!! SEE US UPSET THOSE CANES!!!

Ditto!

They can't get beat any worse than the Canes beat us and Temple...oh wait, maybe they can.
