QuickGold
According to a Buster Olney story on ESPN Insider The Mets and the Padres are on the verge of a deal that would send Mike Cameron to San Diego, a baseball official told ESPN's Buster Olney on Wednesday. Other parts of the prospective deal are not known at this time, but the Mets are looking for middle relief help and the Padres are reportedly willing to discuss reliever Akinori Otsuka, who would be a natural fit in New York. The Padres nearly signed Cameron as a free agent after the 2003 season and still have a need for someone to patrol center field at Petco Park
Admin
Any chance they'd be willing to give an offer for Pierre?
TSwift25
Paving the way for the Mets to make a run at any number of the free agent outfielders, yet probably taking themselves out of the Manny Ramirez sweepstakes since it seemed Cameron was a big part of that trade for Boston. SonataArctica121
According to a Buster Olney story on ESPN Insider and still have a need for someone to patrol center field at Petco Park :lol I think you would need like 3 CF's for THAT park. They are probably trying to go after SD's catcher, they have been searching for one ever since Piazza left.

It also makes it hard for Manny to even be in trade talks when the Red Sox have no GM, and are on like no. 59 on their candidates list. :mad
Mets_bs
http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/met...y-top-headlines Cameron for Xavier Nady. He could be a decent back-up/platoon with Jake. ALso saving some bucks in the deal. Not bad.
TSwift25
So Nady becomes, for the moment, the Mets' right fielder? Or is he just the Jacobs insurance policy?
Mets_bs
I doubt he's starting in right, Victor Diaz probably has dibs on that job. He's probably trade bait or an insurance policy for Jacobs.

yankeefan21
It also makes it hard for Manny to even be in trade talks when the Red Sox have no GM, and are on like no. 59 on their candidates list. This is the same thing we went through when Bob Watson left - only it took us an extra couple of seasons to fall from grace. The team will still be good - they just wont have those one or two pieces in place that win you the WS... The other problem is that the Yanks and Bosox are BOTH shopping for CF in a shallow market. This does not bode well for either team...
Clapinski02
You gotta figure this frees up Dave Roberts for the Padres though. So maybe they flip him over to Boston for David Wells, leaving Johnny Damon to either the Yanks or Mets.
