Who do we have in our system right now that could take the reigns at 2B IF Luis Castillo is traded(which I never thought until now but it is probably likely...I dont think Niner will be back either but that is another story). Assuming we trade Castillo and do not get a MLB ready 2B in return, who would get the job?

Josh Wilson?

Robert Andino?

Chris Aguila?

Someone else?

If Luis leaves im assuming that Easley would be the starting 2b

If we trade Luiy I figure we will go with someone young at the position. Wilson seems like the best fit IMO.

If we trade Castillo, I'm flying down to Miami to kick Loria's and Sampson's asses! Trade Lo Duca and Pierre, but don't you dare trade Castillo!!!!!!!! :banghead

He is not, once Lo Duca and Pierre are gone, the highest paid player in our organization. He is not safe.

I think that if there is one player that is going to stay is going to be him.

Or he will be the last one to go :plain

I can't believe you said Chris Aguila. That post lost all credibility right there.

Aguila was drafted as a middle infielder if memory serves?

I pick someone else... please

ANDINO!!!!!!

Andino who has been piss poor in Arizona or Wilson who has zero offense.....

If you trade him, then there will be another highest paid player, then if that player is traded, and then there is a new highest paid player...yadda yadda yadda.

Someone always has to be the highest paid player on a team, no matter if that salary is 20 million or 2 million.

Use some brains, sheesh.

Our highest paid player will probably be Willis for $4 million next season.

Get your gloves on then cause its going to happen.... As for 2b ANDINO HELL NO!! Kid stinks! I ould deal for a 2b prospect

Isn't Delwyn Young a pretty good 2B prospect for the Dodgers? Aren't they interested in JP? Don't really know that much about the Dodgers system other than Joel Guzman is a stud.

My thoughts exactly, to find a 2B like Castillo is pretty hard; Castillo, unlike most 2B players, can balance both Offence AND Defence. Most 2B are just offence players that can somwhat handle 2B

Castillo could have gotten a whole lot more money to play out of South Florida, but he took less to stay. Trading him would make him making less money and not playing for the team he took less money to play for. That's just good old fashioned back stabbing if we trade him and I will personally tackle Beinfest, Loria, or Samson if I ever see them.

He is gone, so get your plane ticket ready. If not now, I think he will by the July trade deadline...

Lowell took less money too and see how that ended up. Delgado got a personal promise from the f... owner of this team that he wasn't being shopped around. Guess where he is now. Do you think they care about hurting Castillo's feelings at this point? Once you permanently destroy, for the second time, the fan base of a team you could care less for the feelings of a player.

permanently destroy...quite harsh

This firesale is not as bad as 1997 because a lot of the trades back then were for pure nobodies. At least Beinfest is getting top notch prospects back in this dismantlement.

Having a firesale and increasing the ticket price certainly won't help the fanbase.

I think most people (including the Marlins organization) have already given up on South Florida, they may be rebuilding this team for an inaugural 2009 squad with championship potential

errr. wrong! Dombrowski didn't trade for "pure nobodies". We got AJ. Burnett, Derrek Lee, Preston Wilson, Braden Looper, Mike Lowell, Brad Penny, plus a lot of other players that were later employed to gather the nucleus that they are now selling in pieces. You cannot call these people "pure nobodies".

Downbrowski algo got what was considered at that point top notch prospects. As always, the problem is that these prospects not always pan out. I would say that 99% of these prospects become absolutely nothing.

Check your Marlins history. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/FLA/1998_trans.shtml ://http://www.baseball-reference.com/t...98_trans.shtml

I didn't mean the prospects turned into nothing, I mean that at the time of the trades, there was no optimism at all. At least now we can see the light at the end of the tunnel and there is some excitement to see these kids play.

No one was excited about 1998

People are minimally excited about 2006
