Posted November 24, 200519 yr Rotoworld: The Red Sox have until 6 p.m. today to finalize their trade with the Marlins. They may yet have concerns about Josh Beckett's shoulder. A source told the Boston Herald the team still had enough unanswered questions that the proposed deal could not be consummated yesterday. If the Red Sox aren't entirely convinced Beckett's shoulder is sound, they could ask the Marlins for cash to cover some of Mike Lowell?s salary or try to send a different package of prospects back to the Marlins.
November 24, 200519 yr There are plenty of places for JB to play next season. If the Red Sox pass than the next team steps up.
November 24, 200519 yr Author It will still most definitely go through. If not... Joel Guzman anybody? :mischief
November 24, 200519 yr The trade better damn well go through! I got my damn Hanley Ramirez jersey yesterday
November 24, 200519 yr *Red Sox don't complete trade* *Yankees find way to acquire Beckett* *Beckett shuts down Red Sox in a key game*
November 24, 200519 yr If the Red sox dont get him the yankees will be on the phone. So will detriot Granderson/Verlander sounds good to me.
November 24, 200519 yr Meh...Red Sox may just try to get more money...I say leave it at a take or leave. There will be other offers for Beckett
November 24, 200519 yr This may get interesting. Now that there are serious doubts about Ramirez' ability to live up to his potential, what the Marlins got in return, and the fact that the payroll is already bottomed out thanks to Delgado, perhaps this may end up to be a silver lining. Plus, if Beckett fails the Red Sox' physical, I doubt he's moved simply because other teams will probably shy away or offer us less for him. This, however, does mean that LoDuca and Pierre will be as good as gone, since payroll will need to be shed elsewhere.
November 24, 200519 yr Ok so say that this trade doesn't go through, then who will be the everyday guy at SS next year?
November 24, 200519 yr Ok so say that this trade doesn't go through, then who will be the everyday guy at SS next year? Andino or Wilson.
November 24, 200519 yr Boston fans are way too pumped about this for it not to go through. I think this is just a byproduct of not having a GM, and too many people discussing this at once. Two heads are better than one but one head is better than ten.
November 24, 200519 yr I just puked in my mouth a little bit...whether Ramirez lives up to the hype or not, he surely has more to offer in the present and future than Andino or Wilson
November 24, 200519 yr It will still most definitely go through. If not... Joel Guzman anybody? :mischief I'd rather have him than Hanley. Guzman is a future MONSTER. I'm with you.
November 24, 200519 yr Meh...Red Sox may just try to get more money...I say leave it at a take or leave. There will be other offers for Beckett Yep. Remember the Kevin Millar fiasco?
November 24, 200519 yr The difference in getting Beckett and allowing the Yanks to get Beckett is more than Boston can risk.
November 24, 200519 yr YES.....Yankees should trade for him to shove it in Boston's face.....Cano and Wang please.
November 24, 200519 yr From the Miami Herald today: The Marlins had to give up Beckett in order to get rid of Lowell, who is down to receive $9 million each of the next two seasons. But sources said there is growing concern among the Red Sox about Beckett's shoulder, and it could lead to an amended deal in which the Marlins might have to either absorb some of the money left owed to Lowell or receive lesser prospects as part of the trade. This trade is painful enough as it is. The possibility of receiving lesser prospects or absorbing more money in this haste to dump salary would be unbelievable.

November 24, 200519 yr The difference in getting Beckett and allowing the Yanks to get Beckett is more than Boston can risk. Exactly. Beinfest should just quickly say...."OK, no problem, just give me a few minutes to return Cashman's call"
November 24, 200519 yr Has anyone heard anything about this deal yet? The Sox fans think that the deal isn't going through. http://mb3.scout.com/fbostonredsoxfrm1.sho...rt=301&stop=306

November 24, 200519 yr Good. It makes me sick to trade Beckett. Trade Pierre and Lo Duca and keep Beckett.
