Isn't midnight the deadline?

Maybe but here are some annoucments

White Sox declined to offer arbitration to DH Frank Thomas, DH Carl Everett and C Raul Casanova.

All expected. Those three are the team's only remaining free agents. Thomas is likely to end up with either the A's or Twins, with the A's being the better bet. Dec. 7 - 4:57

Dodgers offered arbitration to RHP Jeff Weaver; declined to offer arbitration to RHP Darren Dreifort, RHP Elmer Dessens, LHP Wilson Alvarez, C Paul Bako and 3B/OF Jose Valentin.

No offer to Dessens? He's agreed to a two-year deal to the Royals, which would have netted the Dodgers a draft pick. However, the team must have been concerned he'd back out with the prospect of a higher one-year salary with Los Angeles. The Royals have to be thrilled. It's highly unlikely that Weaver will accept arbitration, but if he doesn't find the right three- or four-year proposal, it can't be ruled out. Dec. 7 - 5:43 pm et

Only offer arby to Jones. Let the others go.

Well we want Conine to go, but it'd be awesome to get a 1st rounder from a team that signs him (not goin to happen), and Gonzalez should 'not' be offered, definitely. Ency yes, we could get a 1st and sandwich for him, no?

Any team that signs a player before the arbitration deadline has to give up picks.

So can we assume we will be receiving picks as a result of the Todd Jones signing???

Yes, unless Detroit's first round pick is protected.

They finished in the lower half of standings, so unless they have another 1st rounder in the bottom 15-16, we'll be getting their 2nd and a 1st sandwich.

Good enough, Kris Harvey was a 2nd and Tucker and I believe West were a 1st sandwich.

I'm anxious to see what happens with Enc and Gonzo. I doubt the Fish offered Gonzo arby, although who knows.Sandwich and a 1st for Enc if someone good picks him up. Gonzo was a B, right? So we'll get a 1st as well, no sandwich...unless sh*tty teams take them.

Does that mean the Tigers were worried about us offering him arbitration, maybe they knew something about that? Otherwise why would they sign him today and lose picks.

Even if we offered arbitration, he would decline, so we'd get the same pick from Detroit whether he signed today or two weeks.
