MIAMI -- As expected, the Marlins acquired Minor League pitching prospect Gabriel Hernandez as one of the players to be named in Monday's trade with the Mets for catcher Paul Lo Duca.

The deal was officially completed Friday, with the Marlins announcing Hernandez and outfield prospect Dante Brinkley as the players to be named in Monday's trade.

The two Minor Leaguers are expected to fit into a suddenly stockpiled Marlins system that has been padded by the recent trades of several top players.

The trade for Lo Duca was tentatively reached on Sunday before becoming official on Monday.

The 19-year-old Hernandez is a Miami native with a lot of potential. He went 8-6 with a 3.47 ERA in 28 starts for the Mets' Class A affiliates, St. Lucie and Hagerstown. At Hagerstown, the right-hander was 6-1 with a 2.43 ERA in 18 starts. At St. Lucie, he was 2-5 with a 5.74 ERA in 10 starts. In 135 combined innings, he struck out 131 batters.

Hernandez was the Mets' third-round pick in 2004, the same year he graduated from Belen Jesuit Prep in Miami.

Brinkley, 24, batted .364 with 10 home runs, 41 RBIs and 20 stolen bases in 61 games at Hagerstown. At St. Lucie, he hit .266 with five homers, 24 RBIs and nine steals in 54 games.

Whats the scoop on these 2?
