MarlinatPenn
City Manager Arriola booted from Heat game BY THERESA BRADLEY tbradley@herald.com Alonzo Mourning wasn't the only one thrown out of Friday night's Heat game: Miami City Manager Joe Arriola was kicked out right on his heels. After referees called a second technical foul on Mourning early in the third quarter, forcing his ejection, Arriola stood up with a few choice words of his own for the ref. ''I told him that he was a piece of crap,'' Arriola said. ``He is a piece of crap for throwing out such a nice man as Alonzo.'' But the referee disagreed. Security was called and escorted Arriola out. 'They said, `Look, it's unfair, but there's nothing we can do; the ref has total control,' '' Arriola said. Arriola said he has had floor season tickets under the basket for 15 years. ''All of a sudden, the referee is a god: they can make bad calls, but they can't be yelled at,'' he said. ``I think it's very, very unfair, but I didn't want to make a scene, so I left.'' Arriola got in his car and drove home alone, where he was reached just before 11 p.m. -- too upset to have watched the fourth quarter of the game, which Denver won 100-92. It's not the first time that a referee's call has boiled a high-profile Heat fan's blood: Singer Jimmy Buffett was tossed from the arena in 2001 during a Heat-Knicks game, for uttering profanity. Arriola, who has never been afraid to say what he thinks, says it's not right to throw anybody out of a game for yelling. ``Especially when I pay $500 a game for a ticket.'' But will he be at Sunday's home game against Washington? ``Of course!''

Shaq-Man
''I told him that he was a piece of crap,'' Arriola said. ``He is a piece of crap for throwing out such a nice man as Alonzo.'' He (well, probably his business) has had season tickets for 15 years and we don't hear about him getting ejected until now? The timing is so odd. Could this be our city manager almost deliberately trying to paint himself publicly as a diehard local sports fan?
