I read that he was going to play, but I guess not. Wtf is Al Leiter doing on the team? I thought he was going to play too...when I saw your post, I was thinking "damn, how could i have forgotten Griffey?...then I looked over the roster and noticed he wasn't listed"... so you aren't the only one And I doubt Leiter will even get an appearance, I'd say an inning or two at the most

David Ortiz DH 7. Miguel Tejada SS 8. Wily Mo Pena CF 9. Alberto Castillo CÂ Â This seems like the most potent lineup. The Americans have the best pitching and the Dominicans have the best bats. Guest Juanky
For the DR, I'd go with: 2B Soriano 3B Rodriguez 1B Pujols DH Ortiz RF Guerrero LF Ramirez SS Tejada CF Pe?a C Castillo (barring someone like Miguel Olivo doesn't show themselves) When Pedro's on the hill, that's going to be an awfully tough team to beat. As far as the US goes, I'd probably do something like CF Crawford SS Jeter 1B Lee LF Bonds RF Berkman DH Dunn 3B Jones C Varitek 2B Utley Ace would be The Rocket. Man, imagine Pedro vs Clemens and those two lineups in a title game. Wow.
Das Texan
and pitching > hitting  In a 7 game series, yes. In this format, I am not so sure.  the usa will win this thing. pitching always wins in the end, long series or short series. the games will be 6 inning games if that with the fireballers ending games. It's round robin in the first and second rounds and then it's single game elimination for the semifinals and finals. I wouldn't be surprised if the US wins it, but I think DR have to be the favorites.

prinmemito
That staff didn't face teams with MLB players like the DR and Venezuela have. Plus, if the All-Star games have taught us anything is that in this type of competition hitting > pitching by far. Guest Juanky
You know, it's not like the US is going to be up against batting practice machines or minor leaguers. The DR might not have the pitching depth the US has, but they'll still be headed by Pedro who you know is going to pitch balls out for his country. Venezuela will have Johan Santana starting things off (oh man how crazy is that Pedro-Santana game going to be) with KRod waiting in the pen. This will be great baseball all the way around because there are at least four teams that are absolutely stacked.

Look at DR's lineup and tell me there's nothing to fear.
Guest Juanky
CF Crawford SS Jeter 1B Lee LF Bonds RF Berkman DH Dunn 3B Jones C Varitek 2B Utley Apparently Bonds is only DHing, so just switch Bonds' and Dunn's positions. Another possibility would be Damon in CF batting ninth and Crawford in LF at the leadoff spot.
TSwift25
US: CF-Pierre SS-Jeter DH-Bonds 1B-Lee RF-Dunn 3B-Wright 2B-Utley C-Mauer LF-Crawford Hell of a lineup, hardest call was Teixeira or Lee at first base.
