FishFan24
I'm definately going to try and go to this before I head to work. It'll be interesting to hear what they have to say..
TSwift25
from some googling, my guess would be marianne salazar. Marianne Salazar, a Cuban-American attorney who lives in Palmetto Bay, said she is frustrated by aggressive policies and approaches that have done little to accomplish Democratic change on the island. She called Pay? a renaissance man with great courage and vision. ''I think that the bottom line here is the embargo hasn't worked, and Mr. Pay? truly understands democracy. If someone truly wants to be a communist, they should be able to be a communist,'' said Salazar, 49. ``He's subjecting himself and his family to repercussions, and I admire him, and he should have the support of all Cuban exiles.'' http://64.233.187.104/search?q=cache:nJExn...alazar%22&hl=en she also ran for public office at some point and lost. Looks like we have a winner. :thumbup

Strike 3
I know, it's a tough time for people to make it. 10AM during the week most people are working. I'm going to do my best to somehow get there. Mainly, I want to hear what they have to say because we all know how bad the press coverage is. I think it's a good sign that this is happening -- at least we know this is actually getting off the ground. Hey, at least it has a name now: Citizens to Save the Marlins! I hope some of you guys can manage to sneak away and show up even if only for a short while!
Hollyberry
:plain WOW.. Its 10:05am Friday morning.. I really missed it.
Beetle
First sign of trouble: schedule a rally for a day and time when no one can attend. Any report from media coverage and/or individuals who attended (or work there :shifty ) would be appreciated.
prinmemito
How do you know no one can attend? Maybe she already had 200 people that confirmed they would make it today. But, I think a Saturday would have been better.

Guest Moneyball
If 200 people show up and she gets some airtime, Marlins fans win. Hopefully this is the beginning of something special.
Fishfan79
at work so missed it. I never even heard anything of it on tv which normally it would be. Hmm, grrr. Any reports of how went and all?
Strike 3
I got there too late. I was at work and really busy so by the time I was able to sneak away and go by there WQBA, Felo Ramirez, etc. were still there broadcasting live but the Cafecito con los Marlins thing was just winding down. I tuned in on the radio only in time to catch the end of the broadcast. Something went on or was at least discussed in relation to Citizens for the Marlins because Marianne Salazar was mentioned and thanked as the live broadcast ended. I got the impression they used the Cafecito con los Marlins event to maybe interview her and/or make some kind of announcement. I?m guessing. I hope someone either was there or managed to catch it on WQBA and can inform us. I agree that a time when more people can attend would have been much better but perhaps this is what was agreed with the Marlins ? to integrate this into the Cafecito event. MiRi
I wasn't able to go. I was stuck at work. And yes, I agree that a Saturday rally would be much better, but at least something is being done.

I'm hopeful there will be more to follow.
Strike 3
I just checked my personal email from the office and I had this message from Marianne: Just to give an update: I went to the press conference and there some people there. Not as much as you would expect or as much as we had before. There were no players - of course...Anyway, the reponse to my radio commentary was very very good. I have another press conference tonight and the owner of a newspaper is giving me a full story FOR FREE. There is a lot of community response. Now, we need to go to the next step. We need to call a meeting and lay out the strategy. By the way please give me your phone number again. Any suggestions are welcome. One thing is for sure we have to make a lot and I mean a lot of noise. Thanks. Marianne. OK, folks, I posted her email address and details in a previous post. If you don't want to contact her directly you can always post suggestions/ideas here but it's an opportunity to get directly involved. Guest Moneyball
paste the details plz HI Michael: I'm technologically challenged and your idea is great. We are setting up a meeting on January 4th 2006 at my church 7:30PM, because I have no other facility that can host so many people and I don't want to go to a park as its too uncomfortable. Please let me know if you can attend and perhaps help me get on this sight. Thanks so much for your help. Regards. marianne.
Strike 3
Fantastic! I am going to email her some ideas/suggestions even though they may have already been considered or some of you may have already brought them up to her. The more, the merrier. I'm so glad people are getting involved in this. All we can do is try.
