Iowa
Homer picks will not be frowned upon :mischief Mine: MVP - Tom Brady Offensive POY - Shaun Alexander Defensive POY - Brian Urlacher Offensive ROY - Carnell Williams Defensive ROY - Shawne Merriman Comeback POY - Joey Galloway Coach of the Year - Lovie Smith Golden Toe - Neil Rackers MVP... let the discussioni begin: Manning, Edge, Alexander, Brady, Tiki or Carson. I went with the controversial pick, I'm guessing. /foreshadowing
Junior
I'm with you on everything, except the MVP should be Alexander.

Iowa
Urlacher is the heart and soul of the best defense in the NFL. 2nd in the NFL in solo tackles statsically justifies the award as well. You actually think Cato June is a more deserving linebacker than Urlacher? Please. It did, however, take some homer restraint to not put Thomas Jones as the Comeback POY. Getting his first 1000 yard season with having 8 guys in the box all game is really impressive. Galloway's monster jump in stats is just too impressive to pass up. Brown and Caddy was a toss up.. I'm sure we'll here both sides shortly. I think if Caddy finishes the season with a couple of nice games to get the Bucs into the playoffs, he'll all but lock it up. Alexander is having a monster year and I would have absolutely NO problem with him winning it. You can make a case for any of the six I listed.. I just think Brady has been the most valuable player to his team this year with all the setbacks they've had. Leading the league in yards can justify his case in terms of stats as well.... imo. I will toss Zach Thomas' stats up against Urlachers side by side and you would see Zach's is better. Is the bears defense that good or their competition that bad for it? Their division they are in has to give them some assistance there. GB is horrible (check out MNF), Detriot is terrible to the extreme, Minn is terrible too. They also have one of top 5 easiest schedules around. That being side I think neither of the two of them should get DPOY. But I think they will give it to Urlacher for the chicago media's power for their golden boy.
Iowa
You are actually using the NFC North as an argument when Thomas plays in the AFC East? ha
MVPosey
The MVP is always a QB, unless there's a RB that completely dominates, and is head and shoulders above any QB...since that is not the case this year, the MVP is between three guys, manning, palmer, and brady Peyton Manning- the best QB in the NFL playing for the best team in the NFL...in most years this would be a no-brainer Carson Palmer- while Manning is having a slightly better year and the Colts have a better record than the Bengals, the Bengals would be hurting a lot more w/out Palmer than the Colts would w/out Manning Tom Brady- still one of the top teams in the league despite being having much less support than last year...also, sometimes in close races, you can give it to the guy who's been runner up a few times without winning it (i.e. Pujols in 05, A Rod in 03...yes, I know different sports, but the analogy is the same) still, when a guy leads the NFL in QB rating and his team has the best record, how could you not give it to him? Caddy has more rushing yards in less games (not to mention the games he was playing hurt), so you gotta give it to him Freeney and June are carrying the Colts defense, which is the best in the NFL...yes, the Bears have allowed fewer PPG, but that's solely because the bears have face much easier offenses...look at their schedules: offensive rankings of teams the BEars have played: 4th, 8th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 26th, 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, 31st (average ranking 20.1) offensive rankings of teams the Colts have played: 3rd, 4th, 9th, 10th, 12th, 15th, 15th, 16th, 16th, 25th, 25th, 27th, 28th, 31st (average ranking 16.9) or you can look at how the defense did against mutual opponents: Team: Colts/ Bears Cincinnatti: 37/ 24 Pittsburgh: 7/ 21 Baltimore: 7/ 6 Cleveland: 6/ 20 San Francisco: 3/ 9 Average: 12/

One is Thomas(playing seperated shoulder), One is Urlacher numbers provided by Yahoo btw You are actually using the NFC North as an argument when Thomas plays in the AFC East? ha I will take the AFC over the NFC North yes. Because the AFC East has a team called the pats that just won 3/
Fish Tank Frenzy
Caddy has more yards than Ronnie, yes. Caddy has 38 more carries than Ronnie Brown. Brown has a higher YPC by a half a yard more. 4.5 for Ronnie and 4.0 for Caddy. Ronnie splits carries with Ricky and still is having a great season. Ronnie Brown should be the O-ROY. Iowa
I'm not going to argue this because its a judgement call. I don't know how anyone who was watching that Sunday night game could say that he's not the best defensive player on the planet right now. 2nd in the NFL in solo tackles along with 6 sacks makes him worthy statistically... but thats just the half of it and not even what I'm basing it on. Strength of schedule? Media golden boy? Give me a break.. he's been playing at such a high level this year I've just been in awe of him. But whatever man, your opinion. Fishfan79
I think Vilma has had alot better year then him personally and I hate the Jets. Vilma has done everything and anything you could ask of him Zach Thomas has more total tackles and been playing amazing in a new system. Another team that has found a defense. He is also playing with a seperated shoulder. Defensive player of the year should be based upon individuals stats not the whole defense. But Each to their opinion and we can always agree to disagree. Dont get me wrong I love him as a player, he is ony my fantasy teams for a reason
