September 5, 200321 yr I hope that the minor leaguer we got from atlanta is good cuz spooney is a guy that has been injured almost the whole season. What are you talking about?
September 5, 200321 yr who is the other player that came over here with spooney? Juan Pierre? lol Ryan Snare I assume is who you are talking about, and I believe he was traded to Texas in the Urbina deal.
September 5, 200321 yr Na it was someone else. No it wasn't, because the only people we got in that deal were Juan Pierre, Spooneybarger, and Snare.
September 5, 200321 yr No it wasn't, because the only people we got in that deal were Juan Pierre, Spooneybarger, and Snare. Actually, Ryan Snare was acquired in the Dempster deal. The other pitcher we got with Spooney was Ryan Baker, and I havent heard anything about him since then, so I don't know where hes at.
September 5, 200321 yr Actually, Ryan Snare was acquired in the Dempster deal. The other pitcher we got with Spooney was Ryan Baker, and I havent heard anything about him since then, so I don't know where hes at. I wasn't sure which Ryan it was. Thanks for clearing it up. I believe Snare was the one traded to Texas, so we still have Baker.
September 5, 200321 yr Here is the article on spooney from the Miami Herald also if you want to find out about playoff tickets its at the bottom MARLINS NOTEBOOK Spooneybarger's season over Reconstructive surgery next? By CLARK SPENCER AND BARRY JACKSON [email protected] Right-handed Marlins reliever Tim Spooneybarger said he's ''done for this season'' and might require Tommy John surgery that could keep him out for next season as well. Spooneybarger, who has been on the disabled list since June 12 with elbow tendinitis, said he's scheduled to have his elbow examined Monday for a third time by Alabama orthopedist James Andrews. ''I'm done for this season,'' Spooneybarger said. ``It's terrible.'' Spooneybarger has been throwing bullpen sessions in hopes of coming back in time for a possible trip to the playoffs. But he said he continues to feel discomfort and has been told by the team's medical staff he might need reconstructive ligament surgery on the elbow. ''If I have surgery, I'm done all of next season,'' he said. ``I can't see myself missing a whole season.'' Spooneybarger, acquired from Atlanta in a three-way trade that sent left-handed starter Mike Hampton to the Braves, appeared in 33 games for the Marlins, going 1-2 with a 4.07 ERA. BURNETT THROWS A.J. Burnett picked up a baseball on Thursday for the first time since April 25 as he continued his comeback from Tommy John surgery. ''It was the best day of playing catch I've had in a long time,'' said Burnett, who played soft-toss with pitching coach Wayne Rosenthal for about 15 minutes. ``I didn't feel a thing in my arm whatsoever.'' Burnett hopes he will be ready to pitch by opening day next season and said he wants to remain a Marlin. ''Tiny baby steps by baby steps,'' Burnett said of his recovery. ``But they're going to have to harness me.'' PLAYOFF TICKETS Season-ticket holders should have received their order forms to purchase ''strip'' tickets for all postseason games. One strip includes as many as 11 tickets: a tiebreaker, three division series games, four NL Championship Series games and three World Series games. If the tiebreaker is necessary to decide the wild card, tickets will be the same price as for the division series. Money paid for tickets for unplayed games will be credited to 2004 season tickets. Cash refunds will be issued only if the Marlins are notified in writing by Dec. 1. Strips (one seat per game) sell for $750 for infield boxes, $560 for terrace boxes and $307 for upper-deck seats. Full payments must be made by Sept. 15. As for nonseason-ticket holders, seats will become available if and when the Marlins clinch a playoff spot. Until then, the public can buy playoff ticket strips by contacting the Marlins and putting down a $50 deposit per seat toward 2004 season tickets. WILLIS AUCTION Pitcher Dontrelle Willis is participating in an online charity auction that will bring its winner field passes to a Marlins-Braves game and a chance to meet Willis. The auction, sponsored by the Major League Baseball Players Association, will benefit the Players Trust for Children.
