Posted April 8, 200619 yr Well we got Texas this weekend. I like this track a lot. One of the places I want to go see a race. Anyways Kasey Kahne on the pole. Got 5 rookies qualified in the top 13. Should make for an interesting beginning of the race. Jr qualified 15 which isn't too bad. Happy racing Busch race is at 3 today if anyone cares
April 8, 200619 yr Some notables for the race: Mark Martin - 3rd Bobby Labonte -10th Jeff Gordon -11th Dale Earnhardt. Jr -15th Jimmie Johnson -16th Sterling Marlin -18th Kyle Petty -19th Robby Gordon -29th Tony Stewart -40th For me, seeing Gordon and Dale Jr qualify in the top 15th is nice. With the way these two have run the last few weeks, I have no doubts we'll be seeing them finish somewhere in the top 10 by the end of the race. :thumbup
April 9, 200619 yr Kasey Kahne holds off Matt Kenseth and Tony Stewart to win the Samsung/Radio Shack 500. He moves up to third in the point and Tony Stewart makes a big jump, going 3 spots to #5. There were also two strong performances by rookies Denny Hamlin (4th) and Martin Truex. Jr (8th). Top 10 finishers: 1-Kasey Kahne 2-Matt Kenseth 3-Tony Stewart 4-Denny Hamlin 5-Kevin Harvick 6-Jeff Burton 7-Scott Riggs 8-Martin Truex. Jr 9-Mark Martin 10-Bobby Labonte (this one should make Admin happy :thumbup ) Top 10 in points: 1. Jimmie Johnson - - 2. Matt Kenseth -15 3. Kasey Kahne - 46 4. Mark Martin -46 5. Tony Stewart -97 6. Dale Earnhardt. Jr -112 7. Kyle Bush -113 8. Jeff Gordon -152 9. Kevin Harvick -204 10. Casey Mears -218
April 9, 200619 yr Kurt Busch is an idiot We've known this for awhile :mischief And I know he had a bad breakup with Rosch, but does he have to take it on everyone of his drivers? Oh well, payback was sweet though! :thumbup
April 10, 200619 yr Very pleased with Hamlin.... he looks like my favorite driver in the future when Sterling and Jeremy retire.
April 10, 200619 yr Does anyone know anythign about Rusty Wallace's son, Stephen? I know he's around 19, but not sure when he's gonna take over the Miller Lite car (if ever).
April 10, 200619 yr Author Does anyone know anythign about Rusty Wallace's son, Stephen? I know he's around 19, but not sure when he's gonna take over the Miller Lite car (if ever). Not for a good while. Busch just signed a 5 year deal I believe to drive that car. My guess is he'll be in a Busch car in a few years and if he's any good then he'll make the jump.
April 10, 200619 yr Yeah Stephen just started racing in the Busch series this year I believe. He may not get the Miller Lite car (which I don't think he should), but I think if progresses nicely and maybe even wins the championship in a few years, I'm sure that more than a few rides will open up for him just because he is Rusty's son.
April 10, 200619 yr Stephen is running some races in Busch for Daddy this year. Depending on his development, you could see him in cup in a couple of years.
April 12, 200619 yr Kasey Kahne holds off Matt Kenseth and Tony Stewart to win the Samsung/Radio Shack 500. He moves up to third in the point and Tony Stewart makes a big jump, going 3 spots to #5. There were also two strong performances by rookies Denny Hamlin (4th) and Martin Truex. Jr (8th). Top 10 finishers: 10-Bobby Labonte (this one should make Admin happy :thumbup ) I'm really surprised at what he's been able to do with that car. I guess it really wasn't the car last year, it was the driver. Even though Jeff Green has stepped his game up, also. So maybe it was indeed the car. Whatever it is, its good to see the ol' 43 as a front runner again. Top 10 in points: 1. Jimmie Johnson - - 2. Matt Kenseth -15 3. Kasey Kahne - 46 4. Mark Martin -46 5. Tony Stewart -97 6. Dale Earnhardt. Jr -112 7. Kyle Bush -113 8. Jeff Gordon -152 9. Kevin Harvick -204 10. Casey Mears -218 Mark Martin (my favorite driver) was in the lead halfway through that race. Then Johnson got the lucky dog and got his lap back and finished decent, Kenseth finished better than Mark and Kasey won the race. Not to worry though. Phoenix is in two weeks. Martin has a win, 8 top 5s and 13 top 10s there. Can you say 'domination'?
