Greatest MCs of All Time

Honorable Mentions: Andre 3000, Big Pun, Black Thought, Common, Ghostface, Lauryn Hill, Kool G Rap, Scarface, Slick Rick, Snoop Dogg

10. LL Cool J

9. Eminem

8. Ice Cube

7. Big Daddy Kane

6. KRS-One

5.Nas

4. Rakim

3. Notorious B.I.G.

2. Tupac

1. Jay-Z

Biggie is #1 on most people's lists I think... My vote is for Tupac- one of, if not the, smartest rappers ever... I'm a Jay-Z fan, but he's not the greatest.

MTV sucks and they ride Biggie's and Tupac's dicks way too much. The list should be:

1. Kool G Rap (unbelievable story teller)

2. Rakim (revolutionized rap)

3. Nas (Illmatic is the greatest hip hop album ever)

4. KRS-One (incredibly smart and made his songs into a message)

5. Run DMC (pioneers of rap)

6. Big Daddy Kane (a better version of Biggie)

7. Ice Cube (the best artist to come from the west coast)

8. Public Enemy (the first political rap group and were revolutionary also)

9. Masta Ace (released 5 classic albums, one of the few who can say that)

10. Notorious B.I.G (incredible rhyme schemes and easy flow)

Pac is my top 20 maybe but he wasn't really revolutionary, he was influenced by Scarface (the real king of the south) and was one of the first to really get into the mainstream and say something that was important but Public Enemy did that before him, so really Pac was just a good artist and though no fault of his own, these posthumous albums that come out tarnish his legacy further, I respect Pac but he just doesn't match up with these guys.

rakim or kane should be #1 in terms of the smoothest flow. cube's rhymes were also sick on the amerikkka's most wanted cd. how the f*** did snoop make the list and how was jay-z #1. slick rick would have been higher if he put out more cd's

*NM, snoop wasnt on the list

Take out Masta Ace, put in Common. Take out Ice Cube, put in Talib Kweli and I'll agree with you.

MTV's list by and large sucks hearty amounts of ass.
