because Beckett is going to be the next Roger Clemens. What on earth were we thinking? Seriously?

I didn't think to much of it at the time and I was all about the rebuilding thing.. but wow, Josh is something special. Just think back about what he did in the series.. jebus.

sorry.. just venting

Agreed. If we had a big market to afford the team we could have had potentially a team that might run away with it this year:

SP:

1. Beckett

2. Willis

3. Burnett

4. Penny

5. Vargas

C: Pudge

1B: DLee

2B: Castillo

3B: Cabs

SS: Agon

LF: Willingham

CF: Pierre

RF: Hermida

I'm sure im forgetting some people as I did this off the top of my head, but damn is that a lineup a force or what?

Let's worry less about what we "HAD", and focus more on what we have now to work with. Yeah Beckett was special, but something tells me their are better things to come from THIS organization. I have high hopes for our long term plan, now let's talk about that.

amen to that josh wsa special but we would not have been able to afford him and as much as we love lowell he was due for some serious cash to. In all Hanely been batting great just has to get used to the pressure of the big leagues give it time he has only played 11 games so far for us

We have some guys coming up in the system now who, while not ready, will have some great stuff.

While none will probably be able to match Beckett's natural ability and electric stuff(Olsen can come the closest IMO), they will still be special.

And, yes, it is tough to watch Big Tex go, but we have pitchers in this organization like sewers have rats...meaning theres alot of them that are very high on potential.

Just wait until Volstad, Olsen, and D-Train are in the rotation all at the same time.

I like the deal.

Anibal Sanchez projects as a front of the rotation type starter and has pitched good in AA so far. I can see him as a permanent part of our rotation as soon as after the all star break.

Hanley Ramirez projects as an all star with the ability to steal 20+ bases, hit .300 +, and 15-20 HR each year

Jesus Delgado has been nasty in High A ball and projects as closer/set-up. He has good stuff

Harvey Garcia same as Jesus Delgado

I think we good pretty good value in return when you consider the fact that Lowell was a dead contract with negative value

It hurts losing beckett, I loved him on the mound and off. i would pay to see him pitch any day. im glad for him, that he gets to pitch some where stable, and lets face it he belongs in a big market club, he is big market talent.

Well, I always thought of the previously untouchable tri-fecta, Willis should have been moved before Beckett... :confused

You thought Willis, the Cy Young runner up last year and the one without constant injury problems, should've been moved instead of Beckett.

Based on pure stuff, Beckett and Burnett are untouchable in our organization or any other for the most part. Just problems with the injury bug.

As far as D-Train being the cy young runner up...well, he got screwed there, he was the most deserving of the award.

Burnett would not have been on this team...the Penny move may or may not have been a cost cutting move....

If the Penny move wasnt a cost cutting one then Pudge isnt here, and I'm convinced that wasnt strictly over money, but over being halfway intelligent fiscally.

I think they would of kept Dlee and penny and let pudge walk. They traded lee to get room for pudge to sign then the steriod prick signed with detriot

A few days ago I was checking out MLB.com for the ERA leaders. Willis, Penny and Beckett were in the top 5 I think. It would be nice if we still had Penny and Beckett.

It would be nice, still have the a elite top 3, what a force we would have..

but the future is now and we gotta rebuild lol, back to reality it is

Im a HUGE D-Lee fan but he would never been as good here as he is in Chicago. MUCH better hitters park......D-Lee was always better on the road hence the "Road-Runner" tag.

i miss all of them, especially the guys we've had for a while now, pierre, luis, beckett, gonzo, d lee etc.....but we do have some great players to eventually take their places. we didn't just give them up for nothing..we have some of the best prospects in all of baseball...what a future we have. remember beckett was once a prospect for us too..

Josh is going to thrive in Boston. He lives for big pressure moments. But, we had to get rid of Lowell, so that's why we lost Josh. HanRam will be an all-star. Within two years we'll have the best left side of the infield in the NL and maybe in all of baseball.

I hate losing Josh, no one else to blame but the FO that focused on dumping salary and Lowell had to go. A bad decision was made to extend Lowell contract when you had a young and ready Cabrera.

Imaging what Lowell would have landed us when he was at his peak. oh well

More or less what we just got from the Cubs for Pierre ;) .

alot more

beckett was the one marlin we traded away that we should have kept, he has such good stuff, with him willis and cabs we would have 3 franchise player and beckett would of cost less then d-train, not by much though or maybe right around the same. we should have tryed trading someone else instead
