Posted April 17, 200619 yr I was at the game yesterday and they announced the attendance at 10,000. From what i saw it looked to be a lot less than that. Who else thinks there was a lot less than that. Most of the fans that were there were pretty pathetic. Couldnt get one chant going good.
April 17, 200619 yr they automatically announce the amount of season ticket holders regardless if they showed up or not.
April 17, 200619 yr First of all it was Easter. People usually spend Easter with their families. Oh and... I heard a "Reggie, Reggie, Reggie" chant. DVH said it was pretty loud.
April 17, 200619 yr lets just be real, attendance is going to suck horribly this year. i still dont understand why anyone's shocked at all the empty seats, we had trouble bringing in fans the last 3 seasons with winning teams except for september and october of 03. all the known players except for 2 are gone and its known this is a bad team and people are still acting surprised and making up excuses for the bad attendance.
April 17, 200619 yr Hey guys I have an awesome idea. After every home game lets start a new thread about the attendance!!!! It's not like it could be discussed in the game thread or the post game thoughts thread that's usually posted!!!!

April 17, 200619 yr Its not going to be very good this year. If we had the same team as last year and were getting these crowds, I would say that was a major issue. But when you have a 15 million dollar payroll, are threatening to move, and had a firesale you have to expect that many people will not show. Its not so much that they are bad fans, its that the team has sold everyone out
April 18, 200619 yr To be honest, attendance has been lower than I might have expected given the number of season ticket holders. But then again, the Nats aren't going to draw many fans regardless of when they come to town. We probably won't see bigger crowds until St. Louis and Atlanta come to town for the homestand on May 5.
April 18, 200619 yr they automatically announce the amount of season ticket holders regardless if they showed up or not. who told you that? really?
April 18, 200619 yr who told you that? really? It's paid attendance. Season ticket holders have paid for their seats regardless of whether they show up or not.
April 18, 200619 yr who told you that? really? It's paid attendance. Season ticket holders have paid for their seats regardless of whether they show up or not. For most sports its Paid Attendance. I also think teams can choose which to use. Because teams that sell out every game always have a different # of fans. For example the heat's arena holds like 20,000 or something and most games sell out. However they report a different amount each time.

That just my best guess. I believe the dolphins do that. Two seasons ago when they were 4-12, they had reported 72,000 or something like that for a game against Arizona, when in fact there were closer to 35,000. Also when they announce a sell out, they list a number between 73,000 and 75,000. Edit: So no one thinks I wrote that to bash the dolphins... Three seasons ago the jets were playing pittsburg and it was snowing. I bet like 30,000 or so people showed up and they announced 77,000

April 18, 200619 yr To get an idea of the type of attendance we're looking at this summer....I remember 1998. D. Lee made the comment years later that the attendance was so small that year that he remembered one game where a fan behind him on first was able to have a conversation with a fan on the third base side DURING the game.
