Moehler was at a loss as to how to break out of his current slump. Girardi agreed with the suggestion that the veteran's spot in the rotation could be in jeopardy.

"We'll talk about a lot of things," said Girardi.

"The bullpen could happen," said Moehler. "I'll do whatever they ask of me. I'll keep plugging along. I'm fighting it, but we'll work something out."

also who would agree with keeping cepicky who looked goood with his single and very nice throw and sendin down eric reed while putting moehler in the pen while nolasco or johnson take his spot with messenger going back down

That's a quote from Moehler?

It almost seems like he's given up as far as being a viable starter in the league.

nah, just him being smart/classy. He knows he has sucked - and also knows the marlins are in a rebuilding stage and are in no need to keep sending out a 34 year old out there every fifth day when a younger kid could do just as good(bad?) a job if not better and learn in the process.

the writing is on the wall...he is just being smart and securing his spot on the roster (for now...) by being classy and being a model teamate.

I liked the idea of working the kids slowly into the rotation, while a below average type ate up a few innings (ala Moe), however, Moe has been straight awful and might not see the starting rotation again this season or any other year. Hopefully he can build some value out of the pen, so we can trade him for someting later on.

Moehler is a good guy. I actually feel bad for em out there even though he's makin a lot of coin while he's getting shelled.

You can tell he's really trying to put it together out there but its just not happening.

it would also be alot more fun to watch, to see Nolasco or JJ work in the starting role and show what they got then see Moehler average 6 ER a game

I feel bad for him. everybody is gangin up against him instead of encouraging him to get back to last seasons form.

I totally agree with you but unfortunately that's the way this forum is. If you screw up, they are great at calling guys names like trash, garbage, etc.

It must be hard to be a veteran and worry about whether the AA team behind you can actually make routine plays.

Let's face it. Some of these guys are just not ready for the big show but they're here and we have to back them and encourage them. Even Big Moe!!

Somebody give Moe a cookie.

Poor guy.

:lol

Well he is a nice guy but when you pay someone millions to allow 1184 hits in 1,024.1 career IP then people start to wonder if he is Major league material.

His career K's per 9 IP is only 4.96. Not good at all for a guy this hitable.

"The bullpen could happen," said Moehler.

Why? Incase we are not losing bad enough?

This guy is a great pitcher, I just wish he could get his control back, he was great in first half '05.

players will have their ups and downs and they need fan support during both

Second best pitcher for most of the year??? What exactly are you smoking? I seem to recall Willis, Beckett and Burnett on last year's pitching staff. Give me a freak'n break.

:banghead

yeah, he gotta go to the pen. I'd prefer Nolasco in the rotation I think, over Johnson, though I wouldn't be upset at either one.

I say they put him on the bench till the end of the season and release him.

yes, let's use up a roster spot all year, brilliant!

Moehler has been getting by with marginal stuff at best for a while now. He's doing the right thing by excepting a role in the bullpen. He's a smart guy and he knows his days as a major leaguer are numbered.

If he is able to turn it around once he is sent to the bullpen and put together a solid or good record as a long reliever he could stick around for a few more seasons.
