This idea couldn't come to fruition until after the last out of this years world series, but it still might be worth a thought.

Our CF woes seem destined to continue throughout the rest of the 2006 season, and that kind of stuff happens to contending clubs. But that doesn't mean it has to extend past this season.

We need to take a CF with some upside in this years amateur draft, and we need a bridge to said player.

So, I was thinking...how about a former fish?

Mark Kotsay just signed an extension through the 2008 season, but if I read it right, his no trade clause ends with this current season.

We have a very deep farm system, with many players that fit the mold of what GM Billy Beane looks for, let's call them "toolsy" players. On top of that, they dont like spending $$ anymore than our franchise(although, have seemed to kind of let lose with the cash more as of late), and they acquired Milton Bradley as well.

So how about we swing a deal for Mr. Kotsay? It would improve the CF situation for a few years to come AND would give us a new possibly great 1-2-3-4-5 at the top of the order in Kotsay, HanRam, Hermida, Cabs, and Willingham.

I know this would probably never happen, in the opinions of some here, but I think we could become a good fit in the trade department as far as our needs and Beane's overall philosophy.

I'd love to see Kotsay back in a Marlin's uniform but it isn't happening.

First of all Kotsay is 30 and hasn't he been dealing with back troubles the past few seasons?

He is getting paid 7 million this year and probably more in the next two years. Probably would not be worth it.

And lastly Beane would probably want some of our top guys for Kotsay. Just not worth it

Not saying it would happen, just an option I wouldn't mind seeing on the table if the price is right.

He's played 287 games over the last 2 years in Oakland, hitting .297 with 30 hr in 1188 ab's.

Never know what Beane might ask for, but I'd like to see it happen. If a stadium deal gets done before next season, I dont see the $$ being as much of an issue.

Billy Beane does not want toolsy players. Billy Beane hates Reggie Abercrombie.

Just trying to contribute more to the board than I have in the past. Plus I like Kotsay. And I hate the current CF situation outside of Aguila, and I dont think he is an answer either.

We need a savvy vetern, and someone on the farm that will be ready to take that veterns spot in 2-3-4 years(I'm shooting for 3).

At the end of 3 years, Kotsay would only be 33...doesn't turn 31 until december of this year. Although, Kotsay isn't the only option.

And BB can have Abercrombie and Fitch(his AB song should SOOO be Summergirls by LFO...been wanting to say that for a long time).
