AJBurnett34
What a 2nd half he is having! This guy is red hot. I hope he continues like this.... Posted on Mon, Sep. 15, 2003 MARLINS Lee's big season continues BY CLARK SPENCER [email protected] The pitch was right where Shane Reynolds wanted it, high and tight on Derrek Lee. But it landed where the Atlanta Braves pitcher never fathomed it would, or even could: over the wall in left field. Lee's 30th home run Sunday made him the season's first member of the 30-20 club in homers and stolen bases. Only the New York Yankees' Alfonso Soriano, who has 29 homers and 33 steals, appears capable of having a 30-30 season. ''I forgot it was my 30th home run until I got in the dugout and somebody said something about it,'' Lee said after an 8-4 loss to the Braves. ``That home run is a nice number. It's a goal everybody shoots for.'' Lee, who also stole his 21st base, might be playing his final season with the Marlins. Eligible for arbitration, he is in position to receive a hefty raise over his current $4.25 million salary. The 28-year-old first baseman is especially vulnerable now that the Marlins have Jeff Conine, who can play first, signed through 2005. ''That stuff is out of your hands,'' Lee said. Lee complained last season when the Marlins traded Cliff Floyd and Ryan Dempster, and now wishes he hadn't. ''I was a little frustrated,'' he said. ``I probably went about it the wrong way, but that's part of the maturing process.'' Another part is taking place on the field, where Lee is enjoying a career year. Since third baseman Mike Lowell suffered a broken hand Aug. 30, Lee has hit .333 with five home runs. He went 3 for 4 on Sunday Link

MarlinsFans46
He was trying to tell you "Derrek" is spelled with two "r"s, not one like you typed. It reminds me when people were calling Michael Tejera "Tejada", "Tejara", "Tajera"... It's no big deal, though - we all know who you're talking about.
