Sergio Mitre----------------Brett Meyers

1-1, 4.08ERA----------------1-0, 3.06 ERA

Different day. Same pitching matchup.

Rained out on Saturday, the Marlins and Phillies will finish up their series -- weather permitting -- on Sunday afternoon.

Both teams on Sunday are going with the starters slated to go on Saturday. Florida is turning to Sergio Mitre, while the Phillies counter with Brett Myers.

Able to pull out their first one-run victory of the season on Friday night, the Marlins now look to conquer another hurdle.

A win on Sunday would lift Florida out of last place in the National League East. Receiving a confidence boost by clinging to a 4-3 win on Friday night, the Marlins are positioned to also claim their first series victory of the season.

The Marlins are a half-game behind the Phillies in the division.

Mitre makes his fourth start, and second on the road. The right-hander is looking to duplicate the success of his first away appearance. In the second game of the season, Mitre tossed six scoreless innings in a win at Houston.

This will be the former Cub's first appearance against the Phillies.

Myers is off to a 1-0 start with a 3.06 ERA. Myers has faced the Marlins 13 times, and he has a career record against them of 4-4 with a 5.19 ERA.

Pitching matchup

FLA: RHP Sergio Mitre (1-1, 4.08)

Disappointed he wasn't able to protect a two-run lead in his last start, Mitre ended up with a no-decision in the Marlins' loss last Sunday to Washington. In three starts, the right-hander has logged 17 2/3 innings. He has an excellent strikeout-to-walk ratio, 14 to 5. He did hit two batters in his last start, and three total, showing he isn't afraid to work inside.

PHI: RHP Brett Myers (1-0, 3.06)

If Myers could pitch against Colorado every game, he'd be on his way to Cooperstown. He's beaten the Rockies in all five of his starts against them, including four at Coors Field, where he pitched 7 2/3 shutout innings in his last outing to win for the first time this season.

Player to watch

Phillies slugger Pat Burrell, a former University of Miami star, has faced the Marlins 102 games. Burrell is a career .255 hitter (93-for-365) against the Marlins, with 14 home runs and 68 RBIs. On Friday night, the left fielder was hitless in four at-bats.

there might be some scattered showers... meaning maybe some delay. but the game's scheduled to happen!

GO FISH! :D

looking like we will play ball...unlike here in Connecticut where its raining cats and dogs here!

The Yankees game...I've got a lot of friends goin today, they sent 2 buses...not lookin as good :(

And a positive here..instead of having Moehler embarass us on ESPN, we have Vargas tomorrow! Also, according to ESPN, Willis will pitch Wednesday and Moehler on Tuesday, not what you have...
