Wellemeyer and German are out of options so they would have to clear waivers first. To be honest, I believe the next one to go will be Cepicky, since he got called up when Hermida went down. After that, then I would say either Reed. Note: Keep an eye on Jose Campusano in AA Carolina. He's hitting over .400 and is 13/15 in SB. Oh yea, and it helps that he plays CF.

In no particular order (and remember Martinez is coming back soon as well as Hermida) I would say Reed, Cepicky, Messenger all are candidates. Also Johnson may return to the minors if and when the Marlins are ready to transition him into the starting rotation to build up endurance to go 6+ innings.

And yes, Campusano is a story unto itself. When he was at .350 I thought he couldn't do better, when he got to .380 I said OMG is he for real and when he reached .397 a voice inside me said this can't continue but what does he do but raise his average over .400. I know it's only April and this can't last (can it????) but man what a performance he's putting on in AA. Absolutely no power, might be overmatched here but his performance so far this season can't be ignored.

I would say Reed or Picky.

Does anyone think that if Reggie continues to struggle (He is doing better but not good enough) Jose Campusano would be brought up?

I think it's a really, really bad idea. This is the first year he's really hit the ball at a high level and, unlike other guys who have jumped from AA to the show for us, he's not considered a big time prospect. Give the kid more time to groom. If he keeps hitting the ball like this, let him go to Albuquerque. I know we're frustrated with some things, but we're not trying to win anything this year, so there's no reason to rush him and potentially crush the good thing he's got going.

If he keeps hitting, send him to Albuquerque. If he hits there, bring him up in September.

Hugg, I agree and disagree on Campusano.

Absolutely thrusting him into the (Marlins) lineup now is too great a risk and I'd be onboard with making room for him Albuquerque to see what he can do there (although the Southern League is pretty darn competitive).

But if (a big "if") he continues to show the same abilities for another couple of months whether it be in Carolina or Albuquerque, and if (another big "if", maybe bigger) the Marlins start winning more consistently where getting production out of CF starts to matter, I wouldn't be adverse to bringing him up sooner rather than later, July vs. September. (Please read all above as purely conjecture on my part.)

I can't sit here and say who's right and what his timetable is, I'm just enjoying the show he's putting on now. Maybe it's a fluke. Maybe he's the real deal.

I remember Joe Dillon putting up unbelievable numbers for a portion of last season (or was it two seasons ago?) with the 'Topes and being nothing special here, (see also Chris Aguila) so I recognize there is no direct correlation between minor league and major league performance. And the last thing I want to do is get into an argument with you, one of our true minor league player mavens about him.

But as I said above, I'm enjoying the show. I have to admit for me he's gone from "Jose who??" to someone whose exploits I follow every morning and that's part of the fun of being a baseball fan.

M2003...it's simply not going to happen. He was just recently switched from SS to the OF and the transition has hit some speed bumps. He's not taking great routes to the ball, is making wayyy to many errors, although his arm will prove to be average. He's struggled so much in CF that they're trying him in LF now to make the transition easier.

what good pitcher do we have in minor that can help us if johnson or hermida, moehler, mitre start struggle alot?

hopefully they don't use hermida as a SP, but assuming they don't Petit should be first in line for a callup to the rotation, but that still might not be for a good while...and he also might go to the pen first like Johnson/Nolasco.

the thing with campusano was hes only hit .268 in his 496 minor league at bats before this year so id like him to keep it up to midseason in aa before he gets called up and gets his confidence destroyed

According to tonights game:

I am guessing Reggie because he is really annoying me. Big Time.

REED! Send him to a Varsity High school game

Reed should be the first to go when Hermida comes back.
