for the organization to realize Reggie, Eric, Matt Cepicky and Chris Agulia are not cut out to start in the OF Yes I know I'm stating the obvious, but what can be done about it right now? A trade? its hard right now with organizations still evaluating there talent, and you'll more than likely have to overpay. Someone from the minors? Jose Campusano? I would think thats the best opition. He's bat appears to be ready, but he's defense could be a concern at home. Something has to be done

I don't see the FO overpaying to fill holes this year. Would improving by 10 or 15 wins really make a difference to a bottom dweller? Perhaps a Borowski or Moehler could have some value at the trading deadline to help fill the holes in future years. If not, then Beinfest can look at trading pitching propects for OF prospects in the off-season.

I don't know,i just hope they start making moves before this starts to get ugly, first guy that needs to be released is Matt Herges.

It is already ugly. But don't kid yourself into hoping the FO is going to do anything more than pick up other team's scraps this season. It's just not going to happen.

Umm...who cares?

We're not trying to win this year, how about just riding most of it out so as to not send a "screw up and you're out of here" message to all the younger players.

The goal isn't to see who can take over as the long-term starting centerfielder...we know we don't have on in the organization, it's all about (at least for me) seeing if any of these guys have quality 4th outfielder potential for a winning ballclub.

I have to agree with Mr. Swift. Making the playoffs this season is not the front office's priority (the Stadium is), so making it ours is futile. Let the young talent play it out and find their groove. Experience will help most to improve; and if it does not, then changes will be made.

We are going to be one of the worst teams this year, going out and signing a veteran doesnt do much. Loria is happily making alot of money this year, and hopefully we can get a stadium deal done. If the stadium gets done then I think this season was a success regardless of how we do.

I wouldn't call it "happily making money" but rather temporarily diverting the company's energy and focus (and funds) to the most pressing matter (the Stadium). I agree completely with your last sentence, though.

Look at it this way. This year Loria can use the money he's making to payoff any debt he has accumulated since 2002. If the stadium deal is completed, we won't have to worry about money made in 2010 and beyond being diverted to paying off debt.

How I judge what happened this off-season ultimately will depend upon what the FO (and Loria specifically) does with the financial windfall. If he uses it to help close the financial gap, then I believe most of us could understand it helped to keep the team in So. Fla. If he just pockets the $$$, then I would conclude the "firesale" was overdone and they alienated their fan base for no good reason.

Of course. I base my interpretation of events on the available information and my own personal experience. However, only time will tell if Loria turns out to be as evil as some claim. :mischief
