Posted September 18, 200321 yr First off I am happy to see this place picking up again. My apoligies for my absence here lately, things have been hectic for 'ole Johnny. Here is the question I ask you tonight. SUV's. Are they good? Are they bad? Why or why not? Have fun folks.
September 18, 200321 yr Oh man I hate them. My dad has one and I'll be inheriting it in a few months hopefully (he wanted me to pay for my own car but I don't have enough money yet :confused ) and it guzzles so much gas its ridiculous. You have to fill it up more often than normal cars and with more gas, plus the fact that Miami is now crowded with them. You have to have one just to be able to see when your on the road. It's terrible.
September 18, 200321 yr i love my truck. I'll pay for the extra gas. I don't know if that is considered an SUV, because unlike a Chevy Trailblazer, or Ford Explorer, this has a bed, and can be used for work (I had to take many a load of particle-board, etc. to the dump in my truck this summer for work). It's also a tougher vehicle as a whole. This is not meant to be a sexist comment, but the point of an SUV was for it to be tougher than a normal car, and to be able to do things like going offroad (not 4X4 offroading), and be able to handle stuff like that better. But, now I see soccer moms driving them. I guess soccer dads too. They like the cute design. They like the leather seats. They like the 8 cupholders. Now, there is nothing wrong with making vehicles comfortable. But, it just seems they are fashion now. But, to tell you the truth, I really dont hate em. Maybe I should. But I dont.
September 19, 200321 yr I do my part of fighting terrorism by driving a gas guzzling SUV. I put a window flag on it though.
September 20, 200321 yr my mom spends around $40 to fill up her Expedition, i spend around $14-$15 to fill up my car. ill keep my car
September 20, 200321 yr Around here, gas prices are near $2 ($1.95 to be exact). I usually spend $12-$16 to fill the tank on my car. SUV's are around $40-$65, I've even seen people go over $75. Tell me how $40-$65 a week on gas is "economical?"
September 22, 200321 yr Tell me how $40-$65 a week on gas is "economical?" It pumps money into the economy My wife drives a small SUV, and I drive a truck. She actually gets better gas mileage now than she did when she drove a car. As far as taking my truck away from me...... Don't make me hurt you. :shifty
September 22, 200321 yr and if i am not mistaken..... not only are minivans safer but they get better gas mileage than comprably sized SUVs.
September 22, 200321 yr what kind of truck do you have gator.... it better not be evil. Nothing evil, just a Ford right now. I purchased my first pick-up about 17 years ago, and I have stayed with them ever since. They are great for all the work I do, hauling of stuff, and a nice place for my H-D when I want to take an extended road trip. And it is all mine, my wife drove a truck before the car that she replace with her mini SUV. She loves trucks, but she can't drive a stick (muhahahahahah.) As the song says, "You can set my truck on fire, roll it down a hill, and I still wouldn't trade it for a Coupe de Ville."
September 22, 200321 yr the evil thing would be driving a Chevrolet...... I despise that stupid bowtie.
September 22, 200321 yr i'd drive a chevy b4 a ford (Found On Road Dead, Fix Or Repair Daily...dont even give me that First On Race Day bullcrap....the Dodge Ryan Newman was Sunday!). Everyone's personal preference I guess. I used to drive a Silverado, but it's my brother's now. I got the Dodge, and am definitely a full-fledged Dodge Truck, and Dodge racing fan. I couldn't care less about the Neons, etc.
September 22, 200321 yr yeah dodges suck too..... i really hate that new design where the grill comes up with the hood. dumb. i like ford GM toyota the rest
September 23, 200321 yr toyota? booooooo I got old body Dodge (99). The new grills look like they're gonna eat u
September 23, 200321 yr toyota..... soon to be made in san antonio, texas. And be part of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (Tundra.) And in case you missed it, the Camry may very well be part of the Cup Series by 2005 - 2007. Toyota is now building a number of their products in the U.S. At the same time, Ford is having some stuff made in Mexico, and Chevy in Canada. Interesting.
