May 14, 200618 yr By far one of the best commercials I've ever seen. I really love how there seems to be a really strong push for the World Cup this year. This has to be one of the better teams we have ever fielded. I'm very excited to see what we can do.

I really, really, REALLY think we can beat Italy (I mean, I won't be upset with a tie, but COME ON). Ghana should be a win. Czeck Republic is sneaky! That'll be a tough one.

If anything it's drawing the comparison of American Baseball as our National pasttime versus soccer as the World's. Winning the World Cup is/would be bigger than anything we can imagine. I don't think it anyway makes light of the song and I fall into the "big deal it's just a song" ratio of people anyways.

I have never had any love for soccer. I've always found it extremely long and boring. The only sports I can really watch on TV are baseball, football, and basketball.

May 15, 200618 yr Well, the star spangled banner is probably played before MLS games. The point is, you dont take a song synonomous with the nation's national passtime and put it into a commercial focusing on a sport with no relevance to people in the United States.
May 15, 200618 yr Soccer is awesome. There is not a bigger thing in world sports than the World Cup. I like baseball, football, basketball and all that...but I don't get the same feeling for the NBA finals or the World Series as I do for the World Cup. And who gives a crap about song they used? Really. I bet all you guys jump on the US Soccer bandwagon if they're successful.

May 15, 200618 yr I can't get excited about MLS or any of the European Leagues, but I LOVE the World Cup. Possibly my favorite sporting event out of all - I can't wait for next month. Oh, and this commercial absolutely pwns.

Actually, that's the entire point of the commecial. It's trying to show that while we care a whole lot for our pastime, this country has a team (and a good one at that) playing the only sport that people outside of the United States and Caribbean care about. They're hated all over the world simply for being American, and, rather than getting the respect they deserve, are completely ignored by most Americans at home. That's the way I see the commercial, as a kind of hope that maybe we can begin to respect and be as much a fan for US soccer as we are for baseball. It's an awesome statement, and I think the commercial is absolutely fantastic.

Italy 3-0 and not to bash on the US but they will be LUCKY if they could win 1 game in that round. it is extremely tough on all sides and the world cup is coming !!! whoohooo !!!! tv ratings (approx) nba finals: 20 something million people watch it baseball final: 25 something million super bowl: 100 million WORLD CUP: 1.6 BILLION end of story
