Kazmir or Hermida

Kazmir was considered by some to be the best high school pitching prospect that season, but signability questions scared off several teams. Kazmir was still on the board when the Marlins were set to make the 11th overall pick."We had a big Kazmir/[Jeremy] Hermida debate in the room," Marlins scouting director Stan Meek said earlier this year. "I know Kazmir is not a real big size guy, but I thought he was kind of a freak. And it turns out we might be right on that one because he's pitching very well for Tampa Bay."

As some of you oldtimers here remember I hated the fact they passed on Kazmir back in 02' have I changed.... no, but I understand a little why they did, and it wasn't about money. I'm looking forward to watching the game today.

well if we had a PoS starting pitcher with some sort of a name to throw the Mets last year, we should have and could have gotten Kazmir. I imagine AJ would have done the trick, but we all would have had a meltdown at the time if that happened.

I take Kazmir, but I don't fault the Marlins for taking Hermida, who is going to be a stud.

As much as everyone says that TBay "lacks" pitching, if Kazmir was in the Marlins organization he would probably rate as our "highest ceiling" pitcher.

And to think TBay gave up next to nothing for him.

We had Ismael Valdez(well, maybe not before the Kazmir trade...not sure). Should of pulled the trigger, Chick to the Padres for Valdez, Valdez to the Mets for Kazmir. Then, at some point, we could basicially of had a rotation full of LHP.

Zambrano is bad but not Valdez bad

Ismael Valdez career: 4.09 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, .265 BAA

Zambrano career: 4.45 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, .248 BAA

Wow, not so fast skippy.
