Yeah, most of our organizations hitters with poor defense are taking up major league roster spots.

Good to him being moved on, at 23 no point spending time annhilating low A batters.

Anyway, we probably won't have a spot for a hitter with really really...really bad defense. He's a DH in the AL unless he improves a LOT LOT LOT LOT. So that's that.

That's not to say I don't like his bat. But I doubt he has a serious future in this franchise unless the messiah bestows more range unto him.

As bad a fielder as he is, the past 5 games I've been to he has been serviceable at 1B. The problem is if there is a log jam at any position in this organization it's 1B with Jacobs/Stokes. As he progresses through the organization, if he can continue to hit like this the Marlins need to figure out a way to work him in. He still needs work obviously, but from the first time I saw him play 1B to now he has improved.

Well that's good news. I'm just going by reports; but if you've 'seen' him play well, I'll take that as a positive. And ya, if he's best at 1B then we are stuck with him out of the loop. Can we try him at C again? I definitely wouldn't. You don't want to retard a younger Hayes' development (who is notably better at Defense). And I think he played 3rd as well, right? But I doubt he'll get much time there, for obvious reasons.

How is his range (or lack thereof?). I figure his glove isn't going to drastically improve, but if he learns to roam 1B better, maybe that could help a bit.
