British by way of Sri Lanka, MC M.I.A. has reportedly been denied access into the United States by immigration officials. In response, the singer posted the following on a MySpace blog entitled "They Try Shut My Door": "Roger roger do you here me over!!!! The U.S immigration won't let me in!!!! . . . I'm locked out . . . Now I'm strictly making my album outside the borders!!!!" M.I.A. was heading back into the studio to record the follow-up to her acclaimed 2005 debut, Arular, with producer TIMBALAND. No word on whether the post may show up on a new track.

British / Sri-Lankan artist MIA (real name Maya Arulpragasam) has denied a visa to the US immigration officials. The details are extremely fuzzy as to why she has not been granted access to enter the country, but she had intended to work on her upcoming album with producer Timbaland.

 

In a post on her MySpace site, she said "i was mennu work with timber startin this week, but now im doin a Akon "im locked out they wont let me in" im locked out! they wont let me in! Now Im strictly making my album outside the borders!!!! so il see you all one day, for now ill keep reportin from the sidelines."

 

2005 saw MIA literally explode in the US, after a good performance at the South By Southwest Music Festival and a lot of support from the music press and blogosphere over her songs Galang and Sunshowers. She raps over the top of dancehall and hip-hop style beats to give a very minimal but impacting style.
