Arnie1941
Several reports that after his Friday doctor's appointment, Mike will try swinging his bat this weekend. "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus."
Marlins2003
Before we get too far ahead of ourselves lets remember just because he may be cleared to start taking some rips doesn't mean he has the arm/wrist strength to do it. Because the minor league season is over there's no rehab assignment, he's been out since July 30th, McKeon is not going to start Lowell anytime soon, especially the way Cabrera is playing at third. Perhaps we'll see Lowell starting again by the second game with the Giants (if we make it). Until then Mike will probably only be used in a pinch-hitting role, maybe playing a little D in the late innings Sunday.
Hotcorner
especially if the Marlins happen to win the next few games. no sense in rushing Lowell if they don't need him.
Ramp
from palmbeachpost Lowell by Sunday? Third baseman Mike Lowell, out since Aug. 31 with a broken left hand, isn't happy that Saturday's game was rescheduled from 6:05 p.m. to 1:25 p.m. to accommodate Fox TV's national broadcast. Lowell had hoped to pinch-hit Saturday night if doctors on Friday cleared him to play. But first he hoped to test his swing Saturday afternoon. He also hopes to test his swing Friday. Lowell's status will determine how Florida's 25-man playoff roster takes shape if the Marlins win the wild card. If Lowell is not ready for the National League division series, he could replace another player if the Marlins advance to the National League Championship Series. g8trz2003
i say if we clinch the WC soon, let him start a few games in the Mets series.
Hotcorner
Let's have Cabs take some ground balls at shortstop. Â When/if Lowell comes back, move Cabrera to SS.
CyggyMarlin
I just hope Lowell doesnt rush back too early and re-injure himself
jonnylons
I dont want to see Lowell in uniform until the playoffs start. I do like the idea of him getting some PT in the Mets series - but only if we clinch and I dont think it will happen til the last day. Truthfully, bringing Lowell back may mess things up a little. Cabrera is hitting well and Conine is this teams other leader and has been coming up with big plays. Enormously lifting this team exactly when we need it. So what would you do? Put Cabs in LF? Put Lee on the bench to play Conine? Or stash Conine on the bench? There is a lot of depth when Lowell comes back...I dont want him to rush back either. :mischief2
geemoney
I'm not in favor of having Lowell rush into things. I'd be happy for him to be ready for the playoffs. We don't want him to (god forbid) tweak something in the Mets series in what could be a meaningless game or two.
JMLinkinPark
Cabs, Lee, 9r all have hit well lately... But if you want the clutch guys in the playoffs (if we make the playoffs) Take Cabs, Conine, Lowell in the lineup...
