Ramp
Josh Beckett was phenominal and should have not pitched the 8th inning. Enc is locked in. Niner is locked in. UUU is locked in. the 28,000 fans were loud as hell. Fox pitched well. oh yea, Enc is locked in.
farmer_fran
My only worry is we have no one to get out lefty's because let's face it tejera sucks agains lefty's. I'm thinking maybe Jack should use Redman or Willis as our left-handed specialist against the Giants, because we're going to need a guy to put in, in the 7th or 8th inning to face Bonds. For any of the other teams I don't think it will be a factor, but we're going to need a lefty in the pen for the Giants.
83Gator
Lefties don't bother Bonds. He's actually hit lefties a little better than righties this year. Last year too. He doesn't walk as much against lefties, probably because they think they have a prayer of getting him out.

That's true, but it would still be nice to have a lefty in the pen just for matchups, I'm not saying it's essential I'm just saying that it is a weakness. geemoney
When Conine sent that one over the wall.....*whew* I got chills.

I agree - it's a glaring weakness. But I don't know if it's worth starting Pavano over Willis or Redman in Game 4 of the NLDS just to get a lefty in the bullpen. I was thinking that maybe we could go with a 3-man rotation for the division series, and a 4-man rotation for the rest of the playoffs. Just a thought because both Redman and Willis pitch well against lefty's. Lefty's are batting .201 against Redman and .202 against Willis. If Jack does decide to go with a 3-man rotation for the NLDS it could fill a much needed void. I feel that the Giants are the best team in the NL and we've got to do everything possible to put our best effort forward.

I don't know if he can do that. Stamina and pacing aren't Beckett's strong points.
Marlins2003
Two nights of baseball and I have no voice left. As great as it was last night at PPS, this topped it. The fans were unbelievable!! Conine. Say what you want, call him washed up, call him a has-been, but whatever you do CALL HIM MR. MARLIN!!!! Hanleylicious
Those 28k fans tonight sounded like 70k like a dolphins game. EVERYONE was chanting "UGGY, UGGY , UGGY " and went will when we got the final out. and of course the HR's were great. At the end of the game coming down the ramps everyone, even the ushers were yelling "lets go marlins" and outside everyone was honking. great game. Hotcorner
one thing i've never really been crazy about is doing the wave there. i mean why is it that the crowd often gets louder during the wave than during any part of the game? i don't want to do the damn wave in the middle of an at-bat. between innings, fine. i like that it gets the crowd excited, & i'm sure the kids love it, but wow.... back to the game... I would have brought in Helling when Beckett came out. Tejera isn't a guy you turn to to get one or two big batters out, plus lefty bats are murdering him at something like a .370 average. In the first game Thome hit a screaming liner to Lee off him with the bases loaded that probably would've cost them the game. I am so glad that some bats finally are coming alive though. Enc with a huge night, Pudge had some good at-bats, Conine obviously, Castillo, etc.
