Imagine the frustration of steroid-addled sociopaths like Mandich watching their beloved Dolphins being reduced to also-ran status in the news. And to the Marlins of all teams.

 

Let's remember that it wasn't too long ago that QAM was all-Dolphins, all the time, with little or no time spent on the Fish, except to denigrate the team.

wqam should be taken off the air. Only reason I listen is for Marlins, Panthers, Canes, and Dolphin games. I wish they would move to WIOD or WAXY for good so WQAM folds.

 

For the visiting ChiSox fans, WQAM is much worse than The Score (Damn CBS for ruining WMAQ-AM and turning it into WSCR!). The ownership is getting fed up with WQAM as is the Panthers ownership. I could see them bolting to WIOD/WRFX or WAXY. The Marlins need a real flagship that supports them. WQAM is going down the tube even more now. As the article in the Sentinel read, people are tuning out WQAM and tuning into the actual games.

 

SportsRadio is dead in Miami, we all know it. The games are what keep WQAM afloat. I hope that when they drop the format, which will happen soon in my view with ratings being lower than all their negative IQ's added together and multiplied by negative 10.

they entered the season with a payroll around 50 million & it's now projected somewhere near 90 if they kept every player & gave them projected arbitration & free-agent figures. is there anyone who would expect Loria to raise payroll by 30 million??? when people have already shown they will not go to games even for a winning team? of course not! you try & minimize your losses, field a competitive team, & if they're in contention again, make a move or two to try & get them over the top. exactly like what they did this year.

Doesn't Neil Rogers get good ratings? And, of course, his midday show is general talk and not sports. When I'm listening to 'QAM, I often get bored listening to "Moe Howard David" (as Rogers calls him) as well as Mandich and even Hammer Hank sometimes.

A"s in the past 3 years have lost Giambi, Damon and no Tejeda. but still have Amazing pitching to get them back to the post season again...

I think the Marlins, if they leave WQAM, will go to WAXY. WAXY 790 has experience in Sports and airing Marlins games (WQAM-Dolphins conflicts put Marlins on WAXY every so often) and the Marlins could make more money by bring the network in house. Buy time on WAXY and affiliates (guaranteeing every game will be aired) and selling and keeping the ad money all to themselves. They did this with PAX, instead of signing with a local TV station, they sold the production rights to Fox sports Net and FSN buys time on PAX 35 and PAX 66

 

WAXY is owned by Jefferson-Pilot (also own 101.5 Lite FM WLYF and Majic 102.7 WMXJ) and has done this in Atlanta and Denver with its AM brokered radio stations and the Atlanta Thrashers as well as the Colorado Avalanche. It works because you have many sports hosts (i.e. Carl Foster's Morning Bullpen on 940 who used to be on WAXY) that would be willing to buy time and sell/keep all the ad money themselves.

Here are the examples of what WAXY 790 could become if the Marlins choose to move there. I like the idea better than WRFX or WIOD, WAXY has a better signal and the Marlins can shape the programming similar to how the Dolphins did with WQAM.

Hank is talking Marlins, he is acting positive today. He said that he believes alot of the country is cheering for the Marlins because they are a true underdog and have the talent to win.

why did they bring this guy dave van horne in last year. I think hes really boring. Id rather have boog for all 9 innings instead of just a couple, he brings a lot more excitment into the game and van horne looks lost sometimes.
