Posted February 28, 200718 yr I was driving away from my house to go to baseball practice, and asked my dad to turn around real quick. I'd forgotten to put deoderant on. he was like: what? you're not supposed to wear deoderant to practice (and was giving me all these weird looks). then he said: "do you think Jason Taylor wears deoderant on gamedays?, he most certainly does not..(rolling his eyes and laughing)" so...is my dad completely out of his mind or is he right? I know, weird topic, weird question..
February 28, 200718 yr its somewhat of a waste since you still will be needing a shower and you still will be smelling like sweat after practice...
February 28, 200718 yr Even if you smell like sweat, deodorant in your pits is going to help, that's where the worst smell comes from.
February 28, 200718 yr Deodorant and brushing your teeth should happen every morning of your life from here on out.

February 28, 200718 yr meh, I agree with your dad. I go to the gym every morning and never wear deodarant. Whats the point? I know I am showering afterwards andcleaning up. I don't need to be fresh and clean while working out. Same goes with sports. It is not a social activity.

Im not saying you have to take a bubble bath before you go the gym but putting on deodorant does not take long.
February 28, 200718 yr Even though you're gonna be sweating and all, putting on deoderant will prevent the smell of sour cream and onions that will be coming from your pitts.

It ruined my school trip last year for me.
February 28, 200718 yr the main ingredient in deodorants is aluminum so basically you are coating your armpits with metal that prohibits it from breathing and sucks it up into your system eww

Thestork7--you can do what you want, but I think less of people who smell like sh*t. You might think it's not a big deal to smell like sh*t because you're doing something physical, but I'll think of you as a loser if I can smell your BO. It's totally cultural.

March 1, 200718 yr Oh yeah, and I don't know about gameday, but I can guarantee you that Jason Taylor wears deodorant when he goes to practice. You want to know a football player who has a reputation for smelling like sh*t and not wearing deodorant? Ricky Williams. Teammates notice these things.
March 1, 200718 yr Dedorant should always be a must, even when working out. Unless you are at an all male gym, there are plenty of hot chicks around you can flirt with. They wouldnt want to have anything to do with you if you reek of sh*t. Always be prepared.

People like me are repulsive slobs? Overreact much? Typical for a guy like you to talk so tough on the internet. You're pathetic. Now, to further explain. I shower every night before bed and after my morning workout, which I do everyday. Deodarant is not the main tool that fights body odor. Bad odor comes from an excess of bad bacteria on your skin, which if you have the unfortunate problem(I do not) you will smell bad when sweating profusely at the gym no matter what. Deodarant is simply a mask for an area that sweats the most. Sweat does not smell though. Therefore it is not necessary to block up your natural sweat processes during exercise, if you are clean and don't have a bad odor problem. I spent too much time on a pathetic person like you already. Later. meh, I agree with your dad. I go to the gym every morning and never wear deodarant. Whats the point? March 2, 200718 yr haha, I can't believe that this is actually a thread... not criticizing it, I'm just laughing to myself while reading it
March 2, 200718 yr People like me are repulsive slobs? Overreact much? Typical for a guy like you to talk so tough on the internet. You're pathetic. I'm not trying to "talk tough"; it's just how I feel about this. I think very lowly of people who smell bad or who otherwise appear to be out-of-touch with the appropriate level of hygiene expected by our presentation-obsessed culture. I guess you can say I'm judgmental. I know I'm not the only person who thinks this way, though.
March 2, 200718 yr Deodorant is always a must and theres only one thing worse then someone who doesn't wear it and thats someone who puts deodorant on after a workout and doesnt shower. The combination of B.O and old spice fresh scent can be lethal. There is nothing to fear in public showers unless you have no flip flops on. Funny story, Wednesday i had a dentist appointment but i over slept. So i was rushing to get ready and leave my house I left and was about half way there when i realized i forgot to brush my teeth. The one time i forget to brush my teeth in my whole life and it was when I am going to the dentist. I had made it too far to go back home so i pulled into the gas station and had to buy a tooth brush toothpaste and a bottle of water so i could brush my teeth in the bathroom. Dont forget deodorant and always brush your teeth.

March 6, 200718 yr I work at a gym so I've encountered all sides of this. Personally, I think it's gross for anyone over the age of 12 not to have some type of deodorant on when they are going to be doing physical activity. I'd rather smell urine or feces then bad BO its absolutely the worst. I know there are plenty of people at the gym who wear deoderant and those who don't. If I know a person that doesn't sport deodorant wants a spot or something I'll get someone else to help them, I hate it that much. I also know alot of trainers and such who won't work with someone who doesn't have a decent sense of personal hygeine. Wear the deodorant. March 6, 200718 yr Author I'm wearing Degree currently. One of my teammates (he's not gay) mentioned I smelled good, today. So that's good.
