October 12, 200321 yr We've been enjoying "free baseball" for weeks now. I for one am thankful. Win, lose or draw: THANK YOU FLORIDA MARLINS for providing a spark of entertainment and tons of fun! GO GET 'EM BOYS - DON'T EVER EVER GIVE UP.
October 12, 200321 yr :thumbup i totally agree. who would have ever even dared to imagine this in april or may??????? not me thats for sure. but they came together as a team, assured everyone mikey was staying, added instead of sold players to complete the puzzle, fought, came back everynight with determination and passion you can't beat. the beginning of the season, pro player looked as empty as cubs fans' heads and now its pretty much impossible to even get a ticket and making records for biggest crowd for NLDS and NLCS. I'm so proud of them and even if this joyride does not last (which it will!!! :cool ) it has been fun thusfar and like sun-sentinel said, we should applaud our marlins whether the season ends today or game 7 of the world series. They brought a fresh feeling to South Florida, a playoff feeling, one we all haven't seen for some years now (exception of Canes of course). So make sure you cheer on your marlins no matter what

I've said it before, all of this is just icing on the cake. My goal for this team at the beginning of the year was to finish .500, and I would've been happy. But while we're here....we might as well go as far as we can.
October 13, 200321 yr Why are you all talking like the season is over? You won't give up now if you're a real Marlins fan :banghead
October 13, 200321 yr Why are you all talking like the season is over? You won't give up now if you're a real Marlins fan :banghead Exactly. Both Prior and Wood can be beaten. Even though the Marlins got mauled in Game 2, Prior did not have is best stuff. After so much success, he is due for a bad outing. Wood is already showing signs of running out of gas as well. BEAR DOWN!
October 13, 200321 yr Oh, absolutely. I've said it before, all of this is just icing on the cake. My goal for this team at the beginning of the year was to finish .500, and I would've been happy. But while we're here....we might as well go as far as we can. Mmmm... icing. My goal for my team at the beginning of this year fell a little short of the mark. There were a lot of unmet expectations, and it's humbling to have to suck it up for yet. another. season. On the other hand, the Marlins weren't on anyone's radar, fought their way into a highly contested wildcard berth, and have made a pretty impressive stand. I think it's a lot more fun to watch your team play above expectations. After watching today's game, though, I have to say you're not over your head. You've earned your spot. Only other team still standing in your league is the North Side Unmentionables. I'm sure the Gi-aint's and their fans think they "deserve" to be where you are. But they were hyped up, the same way the Cubs are hyped up, by the same media juggernaut whose profits go up when the top-market teams go deep in the playoffs. Florida Marlins seem to play good, fundamental baseball. That may not be in a network's marketing plan, but it's what makes me keep coming back to this game, after strikes and white flag trades and such. And there's still some cake left, guys. Don't buy into failure as a foregone conclusion. Take it to the Trib-Urinal (aka Wrigley) and finish this.
