Jaworski replacing Theismann on MNF Click here to find out more!

NFL.com wire reports

BRISTOL, Conn. (March 26, 2007) -- ESPN is changing quarterbacks.

Joe Theismann will no longer be part of the network's Monday Night Football booth and will be replaced by Ron Jaworski, the former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback.

"This new lineup will enhance our presentation of 'Monday Night Football,' our most important property," Norby Williamson, ESPN's executive vice president for studio and remote production, said. "Ron has covered the NFL from many different perspectives, and he is totally tied into the issues and trends from around the league."

Theismann, a former Washington Redskins quarterback, will be offered another analyst job with the network, Williamson said.

Jaworski is known for his studio analysis and ability to break down game tape for viewers. He will join play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico and analyst Tony Kornheiser in the booth. Suzy Kolber and Michele Tafoya will handle sideline reporting.

NFL games on Monday night moved from ABC to ESPN last season.

I just can't handle Theismann. The best thing about last year's team was the weekly sniping between Kornheiser and Theismann. It couldn't have been any clearer that they didn't like eachother. Theismann would say something ridiculous like he always does, and Tony K would subtly question him on it, and then Theismann would proceed to sound even dumber. I don't think Tony K was anything special either, but at least he called Theismann out on his BS. We'll see how he does this year without Theismann.

jaws is much better than theismann, but they've still gotta get tony off there. he's great at pti and things of that nature but he's not an nfl commentator.

Jaws can draw the NFL fire out of anyone. He can do play-by-play (does with the ESPN Arena Football games), color analysis (does it for the Bucs on WFLA and will on ESPN MNF now), and studio analysis (with ESPN Sunday NFL Countdown).

I like the move by ESPN. Is Theismann going to Redskins Radio or moving to the ESPN studio?

Thank god... Theismann was a raving egomaniac. Now all we need is Joe Morgan to follow suit.

Jaws is the man.. that guy cracks me up how much he gets in to it. He lives, breathes and dies football. I love the move.

I think Tirico is a great PBP guy. I'm up in the air on Kornheiser but I am a Jaws fan.
