Hollyberry
Left-hander Taylor Tankersley, who at the start of spring training appeared likely to get the closer's job, will re-join the team tonight after missing most of March with a sore left shoulder. Tankersley probably won't be rushed into the role just yet. If a save situation comes up tonight or this weekend, Gonzalez could go with right-handers Kevin Gregg, Henry Owens or Matt Lindstrom. PalmBeachPost.com. From the looks of it Tank just has to perform well the next few nights.
Tee Ball Bunt Machine
Still pulling for Lindstrom or Gregg to get it. Why not Owens? Gregg needs to be saved for long relief, and I'm not sure Lindstrom is ready.
Hammerhead
Still pulling for Lindstrom or Gregg to get it. Why not Owens? Gregg needs to be saved for long relief, and I'm not sure Lindstrom is ready. With Owens closing, Gregg is literally our only long reliever unless you feel safe throwing Pinto out there for more than one inning
MikeLowell
I wouldn't mind Tankersley as the closer as long as he comes back from his injury strong the next couple games.
Out of the Past
I'm still not sure Julio is out as the closer. The Sun-Sentinel and the PBP said Julio said he was no longer the closer but there was no confirmation from Fredi. The Herald and the website haven't said anything about Julio not being the closer. Iowa
I love Owens makeup.. I think he'd do a great job. Same with Tank, I just think he'd be great in the setup role. But like I said before, I'd be all for splitting the save opps between those two guys. Nothing against Gregg or Lindstrom. Ttytt, I've switched a bunch of times on who I'd want to close. All I know for certain is: Not Julio.
flasportsfan88
The best possible thing obviously would be for Julio to just break out of the slump and regain the closer role. Having a great lefty late in the game setting up would be sexy.

I think Tank can do the job,but do they have any other lefties out there for the pen?

I just read it someplace this morning. Fredi has confirmed it. But not out indefinetly. Going to get him into some games early to work on his issues and confidence. And I really like the way Julio is handling the whole demotion thing. Saying all the right things. Being a team player. The right attitude means alot right now. SonataArctica121
I know tank rocks but he doesn't seem to be a guy that could close to me, I think we should just keep him as the lefty specialist and should switch up between Owens and Lindstrom. If Mess stays reliable, we could keep Lindstrom and Gregg as LR's

PhxPhin
i really like what I see from owens as far as having a closers approach - i'd love to see him get the shot and tank could continue to be used as a steady reliever, left handed specialist and the superman in earlier innings

BroncoBob27
I also agree Tank is not ready to be a closerHow about the eighth I like Tank but I just don't think I want him as our closer. Set up guy is fine. Let them play with Lindstrom, Gregg, and Owens and take it from there. I'm still hoping Julio gets it figured out and makes alot of folks eat their words. Wouldn't bet the mortgage on Julio getting straightened out. The reality pitchers just lose the ability to pitch...Mitch Williams...The Kid from the Cardinals who is trying to be an Outfielder now...You remember Rick Ankiel don't you? Not betting anything on it. I said "I'm still hoping" and not "I'm sure." But I would be willing to bet for every name you give me that couldn't/didn't turn it back around I could give you at least one that did. To quote Perry Hill in a conversation I had with him before a ST game, "I'm an eternal optimist." However, he sure did look like crap again on Sunday.
