djm305
Not really surprising. I don't expect any Marlins to make the top 5 in Fan Votes except maybe Cabrera.
louiecastillo1
Not surprising. I don't think we'll ever see a marlin voted in by the fans.
MarlinFan10
I'm surprised Eckstein isn't in first. Cardinal fans aren't doing their job. The All-Star game has pretty much jumped the shark anyway.
Admin
He will be there in the end. St. Louis are ballot stuffing machines. Put a presidential candidate in a Cardinals hat, and those douches would find a way to vote 30 times apiece.
Sirspud
We're just gonna have to wait until the reserves are named. It's not like Hanley has to be the starter anyway, as long as he and other deserving Marlins are there I am happy.
LordMagnus
They may as well call the NL Team the New York Mets at this rate. David Wright starting over Chipper or Cabrera is a joke.
marlinz_fan
They need to take the voting away from the fans and give it to the players and managers. Didn't they do that back in the 1960's after Cincinnati stuffed the ballot boxes and didn't give it back to the fans for 15 years or so ? BroncoBob27
They need to take the voting away from the fans and give it to the players and managers. Didn't they do that back in the 1960's after Cincinnati stuffed the ballot boxes and didn't give it back to the fans for 15 years or so ? I have a different idea. Kinda like last year, but with a twist. Because I think an AS should be the best all around player at his position I would like to see players starting and in reserve that are just that. But add another category for hitters and have them do the Home Run contest, or some type of hitting contest the day before the ASG. Last year's HRC was just an ad campaign for the WBC, but it could be tweaked. Hanley shouldn't make the team for his all around abilities. Neither should Miggy. But they can hit. Were guys like Piazza, Sosa, and Big Mac (short list) the best all around players at their positions? Not by any means, but they could hit. Cabrerafan
No Marlin will be a starter, but who cares? Everyone knows it's a popularity contest. Sure, it's irritating to see undeserving players start, but to get voted in as a reserve at least means you were chosen for your talent (for the most part). Maybe Piazza and Sosa weren't the best fielders at their positions, but their incredible offense made them by far the best players at their positions. And Ozzie Smith was awarded a spot on the team for years despite litle offensive production. I hate the fans stupidity sometimes as much as anyone else, but having the fans choose the players defines who is a "star" and who isn't makes in an allstar game. Sometimes deserving guys don't get to go, but that's the way it is.
Beinfest4Prez
Hanley won't make the all-star team this year because he isn't undeserving, just that the position is WAY too deep in the NL East alone.
