I'm wondering once Nolasco comes back of the DL, where does he fit in the scheme of things...He was ofcouse one of our 4 double digit winning rookies..Guy is viable middle of rotation starter IMO.

But You'd figure this will be are rotation when it's all said and done (barring any injuries)

D-Train

Olsen

Mitre

JJ

Anibal

Does Nolasco go to the pen or what?

Or is he trade piece that could fetch us a CF'er..

He's got to get some value first

I've never seen Ricky as anything but a 5th starter or a 6th inning guy out of the bullpen who can give you a few innings. Maybe we can package him in a deal and get a CFer or a Catcher.

He has got to get healthy and stay that way otherwise he has no value. If he can prove his health for an extended period of time, he'll have some value to teams. But I dont see that happening this year.

I know the value of an additional lefty, but if Scotty does not start backing up his talk and brash behavior with some results-he could be in for a bullpen surprise.

One of the 5 starters will inevitably be hurt at any one time and he would fit real nice into one of those spots. I think Ricky has more value to us than anyone else.

there is also a spot on the Isotopes rotation

:anon

I would say Vanden Hurk just made himself a valuable trade piece, Ricky needs to pitch healthy and well to become good value again

The team wanted Nolasco to start in the pen, and he has done nothing to indicate that was a bad choice. And the only role in the pen I would consider him for is mop-up, no way I'd give him innings over Owens, Lindstrom, Benitez, or Gregg, and he isn't a lefty specialist.

For the immediate future I see Nolasco as the # 5 starter following Dontrelle, Mitre, Olsen and Kim. He'll probably get bumped to the pen when JJ gets healthy, also I don't see Anibal being a factor until August at the earliest. Too many starters is a good problem.

bingo.

i see him as a 5th starter also. i imagine he goes back into the rotation sometime later on during the season, he just needs to get consistent.

Having too many starters is a dream come true with a GM like Beinfest and front office support like Fleming and Hill.

I look forward to the day we have seven, eight or possibly nine healthy major league starters.
