I'm on such an 80's kick right now

Recommended Posts

I don't own all of their albums, but I do own the first 5. I've listened to the rest, but I don't own them.

"Fight Fire With Fire" is probably my favorite off of Ride The Lightning. That song is so musically sophisticated for speed metal. He's singing it totally off beat, but it works.

I agree with Four Horsemen, Master, and One. But my favorite song on Metallica is probably "Nothing Else Matters."

BTW this is random/funny

I guess lars threw out the first pitch at the a's redsox game, which started the no hitter debate today.

Bar none, the "best" four minutes in the history of MTV (back in the day when MTV actually played "music") belong to this video:

"Separate Ways" by Journey.

A solid 100 out of 100 on the Unintentional Comedy Scale!

I could have a thread that takes up a whole page if I were to list the 80s favorites on my various playlists. Then again, it is the decade I came of age in so it basically is the soundtrack of my life.

Ahhhhh.....I just took a stroll down memory lane with that one and man did it feel good!

Phil Collins and Philip Bailey > Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney

For the most part I agree with that last part.

Since we're on it

best songs from each album

Kill em all- Four Horseman

ride the lightning- bells

master of puppets- master of puppets

justice- one (however blackend is right there)

black- sad but true

load- until it sleeps

re-load- fuel

I think one or master of puppets is their best song.

I'll see your challenge!

Kill Em All- Seek and Destroy

Ride the Lightning- Fade to Black

Master of Puppets- Master of Puppets

...And Justice for All- One

Black Album- Wherever I May Roam

Load- The Outlaw Torn

ReLoad- Fuel

Garage, Inc- Astronomy

St. Anger didn't happen.

Best overall song is One with the San Francisco Symphony.

kill em all- motorbreath

lightning- ktulu

MOP- Leper Messiah (in my top 5 fav metallica songs)

Justice- Dyers Eve (not sure why this song didnt make it as big as the others on the album)

black- dont tread on me

load- aint my bitch

reload- devils dance

Hmm, that's a fun one.

Kill Em All- Motorbreath

Ride the Lightning- Creeping Death (I like songs that tell ancient stories well, for whatever reason)

Master of Puppets- Orion

...And Justice for All- Dyer's Eve (also really like Harvester of Sorrow for this choice)

Black Album- Don't Tread on Me (again, historical song - American Revolution)

Load- The House Jack Built

ReLoad- Carpe Diem and Low Man's Lyric

Garage, Inc.- Tuesday's Gone

I think The House Jack Built might be my favorite Metallica song no one knows about. It's really a well done song and goes will with all of Load, which I think is their most complete album (not best, just most complete). I'm not sure if I agree that Devil's Dance or the Call of Ktulu are really unknown, since they are both done (and well) on S&M.

I think devils dance and ktulu are less known than creeping death (which is awesome live). I'm just ready for some new stuff. BTW do you remember those new songs they played last year? Those wont be on the new album. They did however take parts of those songs and incorporated them into other songs. This album will probably be their best one since the black album. We'll see how it turns out, I am really excited for the new album. They start touring europe again in july so I am sure some real new song will be played/leaked.

Really? I thought those songs were going to be for the new album. I guess they didn't meet the standard.

The first one that had come out wasn't that great anyways other than the guitar solo. The second one was much better.

Hmm the 80's thread has become a Metallica suckfest. :mischief2

They had a huge undergound following in the 80's but did not come to the public light until One blew up on MTV.

I don't really think of Metallica when I think 1980's.

I really dont either. They really exploded in 1991 when the black album came out.
