Posted July 2, 200717 yr Per MLBTR... According to Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune, the Marlins and Brewers have been scouting the White Sox lately. Gonzales believes the Marlins may be looking at Triple A center fielder Brian Anderson. He mentions that the Fish have been fans of BA for quite a while. Anderson is currently a member of the Charlotte Knights, but did not play in today's blowout against Pawtucket. Anderson is 25 now and hitting just .239/.302/.364 in Triple A. A fresh start in a new organization could help. Gonzales says the Brewers have been scouting Chicago's pitching. Not sure how a team that just demoted Yovani Gallardo to the bullpen would be in need of pitching, but you can never have too much. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2007/07/marlins-brewers.html Some Sunday evening news to chew on.
July 2, 200717 yr I'm fairly sure Brian Anderson has been mentioned quite a while back on this board as someone the Marlins had slight interest. He probably wouldn't cost terribly much at this point, so he I say we might as well try him out.
July 2, 200717 yr Author may have something to do with Carroll being sent down? You may have a point. Was it even confirmed who took BC's place on the roster?

July 2, 200717 yr I'm not saying what we have now is great, but I'm not sure Anderson is the answer. I'd rather give Carroll (who I'm not a big fan of) an extended shot at being our CF.
July 2, 200717 yr Why? That's the question you should be asking yourselves when it comes to Brian Anderson. I think people are reading a suppostion by the writer as even rising to the level of a rumor, which it doesn't. The author simpy picks a convenient name out of a hat with nothing more to go on. It's that time of year, get used to it. Tomorrow it could be Miguel Cabrera to the Yankees for Bobby Abreu straight up. There's 30 days of insanity ahead of us.

I think everyone understands it's a rumor site and shouldn't really be reading into it too seriously. We nor does the author of the post on MLBTR have any idea who the scouts were scouting. It's always fun to speculate and discuss though right?
July 2, 200717 yr Yeah ur right, and his D would be a plus for us but we would also need the bat to come through.
July 2, 200717 yr It's always fun to speculate and discuss though right? Oh absolutely but the author includes this in a news piece, recapping the results of a recent game. Follow the link to the source. I wasn't talking about MLBTR, I was referring to Gonzales' reporting in the Tribune.

July 2, 200717 yr Call me a debbie downer, BUT: I think there's far more wrong with this team than a Brian Anderson type player can fix. I also understand that he represents a build on a budget upgrade and that he's a risk/reward player with upside that could put him among the top 10 at his position, BUT I truly believe that this team cannot be fixed on our budget, that it's going to take either a complete reworking of the rotation around Anibal and Dontrelle or the padding of the offense such that it has no weak spots. I think given the plethora of centerfielders on the free agent market this coming season (Hunter, Rowand, Jones and Cameron to name a few) that it'd be in our best interests to wait and see for centerfield. If Anderson comes for free, great, but that's not going to happen. If we're going to go crazy thinking we can win this year, go get Contreras from the White Sox.
July 2, 200717 yr I think your overanalyzing swifty. With all the young OF spects they have, and as much in the doghouse as hes in, i think he could come cheap.
July 2, 200717 yr I just dont see it with him. I think Amezaga is better. If we were going to try to get a guy for cheap that could really turn things around in a different place I thought it was Dukes.
July 2, 200717 yr well he would be the best defensive player on the team the day he would eb traded for and our defense is so horrible it is a joke. So really it would be interesting from that aspect. Do I think he ever becomes more then a 260/330/400 Hitter in the big leagues at this point? Doubtful But please remember just as Hermida was a top rated prospect the year before that Anderson was. Kid does have potentials. At lesat we would have an arm and glove in CF like we havent had for a good long while.
