Mungo
I never thought I would hear these words. Paraphrased : "If the Marlins can get their starting pitching straightened out, they have a chance to be a very good team" Needless to say, I practically fell out of my chair (I turned during the half-inning)

Sirspud
Great, ESPN regonition can never be good. I kind of enjoyed the under the radar approach.
Psycho Sid
That's a gigantoid "if" in Kruk's statement. Also, I'm sure these players would like some notoriety. They're not blind to the lackluster attendance.
Erick
John Kruk is a big-time Phillies homer. I believe he called Chase Utley one of the best hitters of all-time the other night...all-time?
miamibaseball
do guys on BBTN believe we could gave mets and phy, brave run for nl east
Rabbethan
John Kruk is a big-time Phillies homer. I believe he called Chase Utley one of the best hitters of all-time the other night...all-time? Called him one of the best hitting second basemen of all time. And he is right. Utley is awesome. Best player on that team. 2nd best player in the NL East. Of all time is a bit much, but he is very very good. I agree with you on the rest (I refuse to call a Philly awesome though.)
HungryFish06
John Kruk is a big-time Phillies homer. I believe he called Chase Utley one of the best hitters of all-time the other night...all-time? Hanley Ramirez is better than Chase Utley. Well, except for the positions thing.
Marlin Nation
I love the Marlins being this secret power, they are the boogeymen of the NL East.

They're not blind to the lackluster attendance. Well Hendrickson and Olsen have been solid so far. Nolasco and Miller pitched better in their last starts, so I mean the potential is there. And btw, ESPN recognition won't increase our attendance. I remember going out around Miami in maybe july or august of 03, and hearing people say that the marlins sucked, clearly not knowing that the team was in the hunt at that time (meaning august)
bobbob1313
This is the kiss of death. 20 game losing streak, here we come. Anything John Kruk says automatically becomes false.

Seriously, wouldn't it be better to wait until their careers are done with to bring up the "all-time" statement? Chase Utley isn't even 30 years old. Who knows what will happen from here on out? He's ON PACE for it, but nothing in life is guaranteed. It's a bit premature...especially coming from a "TV analyst."
Out of the Past
do guys on BBTN believe we could gave mets and phy, brave run for nl east miamibaseball, I'm not on Baseball Tonight but I'll give you my opinion. I think it's too early to tell if we can compete with the big boys. So far this season we have several guys like Jacobs, Cantu, Hendrickson, Hammer and Olsen putting up numbers that noone would have predicted. I thinks it's doubtful all of them or even most of them will keep it up. Also, the rotation spots 3 to 5 is a mess. I think Nolsaco may turn out to be fine because he did have some success in '06. But the 4 and 5 spots are a mess and I wouldn't count on Sanchez or Johnson doing anything this year. The bullpen is a major strenght but I'm concerned we may have injury problems if they keep pitching as much as they are. Mitre could help but keep in mind Mitre has a career ERA around 5.00 so he's not a sure fire savior.
catchoftheday
Chase Utley does have the potential to be the best hitting 2nd baseman of all time ... to me he's already ahead of Robbie Alomar who's basically the owner of that title. Out of the Past
Joe Morgan gets my vote since the 1940s. I don't know about the ones before then.
