Hey I know they had won 7 games til tonight and they still lost by 1 run. However Amazaga is becoming a huge detriment to the lineup especially in the 1 spot. He has been doing absolutely nothing. I wanna go ahead and reiterate i have always hated on Alfredo playing CF my problem is him being in the starting lineup more often than not. He is not producing at all right now

It would be nice if Alejandro De Aza decided to...ummm...y'know...stop getting injured, and then prolonging these injuries. I thought he was only going to be out a month. Any updates on him?

What makes you think he'd be any better? I'm not anxiously awaiting his return.

I'd give Carroll starts in CF before I'd hand De Aza the job again.

I don't understand Fredi. Cody Ross starts getting on base...and then...POOF....here's Alfredo back again.

Treanor starts hitting the baseball, and then...POOF......here's Rabelo again. Plus, Rabelo's defense is not so great, nor is his game calling.

Can we stop rewarding people's success by benching them???

De Aza was actually impressive last year before getting injured, imo. Plus, at the very least he has some potential...and bottom line is, it'd be nice if he came back before next year, to use him for trade bait, if he can somehow impress.

I like 'Fredo and I don't want to "hate" on him, but I don't think his role on this team should be as an everyday player. He has many talents and is useful in many situations. He just isn't getting it done at the leadoff spot. He hit four flies tonight. I think Fredi has fallen into the line of thinking of many skips that they just have to have a speedster at the top of the lineup. MLB is sorely lacking in great leadoff men these days. How many .240 hitters do you see at the top of lineups these days just because they are fast. If they can't get on, it doesn't matter. Alfredo only has one steal this year.

Put someone at the top of the order who makes things happen. I know Cody Ross got off to a slow start this year, but the last two games he started, he got things going. I had assumed those games were a kind of tryout for him to get himself back in the lineup everyday and I thought he did ok. He has way less at bats that 'Fredo and hasn't had nearly as much chance to prove himself recently as he deserves. He has had that goofy look of intensity unique to him going this week. I say give him a chance. His upside is better than Amezaga.

Neither is Rabelo. So you may as well take the hot hand.

I think since they're both mediocre, Freddi is just pairing them with certain pitchers. Treanor with Miller, Rabelo with Olsen, etc., etc.

Treanor is not a starting catcher.

And Rabelo is?

And plain and simple, any CF option we currently have is at best "servicable"

Unless Lofton breaks down, or if we manage to make a trade for a one-year guy (and like I've said before, the only guy that really fits that mold is Milton Bradley, who's making a ton of money and clubhouse issues if you're into that idea), we're not going to get a good CFer.

What's weird to me is Amezaga has yet to get a walk in the leadoff spot. I'm hoping he hasn't changed his approach and is now too focused on hitting his way on base to get driven in. It's likely just the result of a small sample size and it doesn't seem he's changed his approach to me, but I'm also not a hitting coach

Unfortunately neither is Rabelo but the team seems to show more confidence in him getting the majority of the starts. Being that Treanor is a streaky hitter, and is in one of his hot streaks, he has his average up above .280 while Rabelo took an 0-3 tonight bringing him down to .229. If I were Fredi, I would try and give Treanor a couple starts in a row to see if he can keep up the production and then just return to Rabelo once Treanor's bat inevitabley cools off.

As for Amezega's slump, Fredi is going to stick with him against right-handers almost regardless of his batting average. Unless Ross starts proving something in his starts and begins to consistently get on base then I doubt Fredi will make any kind of move, atleast not until De Aza returns.
