Miami Heat 08-09 Season Thread

Portland is damn good. They have so many big men, it would be nice of them to leave one behind on their way out of Miami.

Good effort by the Heat tonight though. Undersized and shorthanded, they played well and hung in the game. Hell of a game by Wade, again. Marion's length and rebounding would have made a difference in this game. They are back at .500, but they continue to show signs of progress.

Heat improved to 7-6 with win over the Pacers. Wade was yet again amazing as he put up 38 this time.

Wade was his usual awesome self and it was really nice to see Spoelstra stay with Beasley longer and give him a chance to play through foul trouble. It paid off, he played very well in the second half. It would be nice if this team can put together some back to back wins. It will be tough with a real good Houston team coming in next. I read in Ira's blog that Jamal Magloire might be back for the game on Monday night, so at least they could get some size back on the court.

I'm still confused as to why the Heat haven't even tried to acquire a center. Clearly their biggest weakness is getting out-rebounded every game. Why not try to trade Haslem and maybe a player similar to Banks for a decent 7' big man?

no. haslem's valuable. he shouldn't be traded for a half-assed center.

anyhow, one of our favorites will be out for some time:

The Miami Heat's Dorell Wright, limited this season to six minutes of playing time because of chronic knee swelling and soreness, is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Tuesday.

The surgery is schedule to be at Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables and will be performed by Heat team doctor Harlan Selesnick.

Wright, 23 next month, had surgery on the knee in March to repair a torn ligament.

Although he played two preseason games, Wright has been limited to only one game because of the injury.

Wright scored two points in that game.

You're right, Haslem is valuable, just not to this team. A pure center would be way more valuable, at least for the Heat. There's no way the Heat will go anywhere in the playoffs (if they make it) if they keep on getting 15 rebounds less than the other team.

Things we need

A Center because were getting outrebounded like crazy

A Guy other then D Wade that can drain shots when we need them

Beasley to take better shots

Chalmers/Quinn to start adding more points to there totals

Halsem to get in a grove and making thoose 15-18 foot shots

Marion needs to get more shots in the paints

Daequan needs to take less contested shots and make the ones where hes uncontested

Everyone to start making freethrows

Big Pluses

Joel Anthony blocking shots and getting rebounds but it would be great if he could score a few points

Beasley after missing his first few shots coming back strong and attacking in the paint and hes not a bust

Chalmers getting steals a dishing the ball

D Wade is healthy

The Heat will get a rebounding Center in a little while (I believe a week) when Jamaal Magloire comes back. He is not an offensive presence, but he is a very good rebounder I have heard. He will not be enough to help us to the playoffs, but he will get the job done until we trade Marion by Christmas for a center and some add on pieces
