Hey everyone! I am checking in from LAS VEGAS site of the 2008 Winter Meetings. I have already lost over $100, but I'm not here to gamble, so I'm going to stop while I'm behind.

Over the course of the next 3 days (I have to leave town Wednesday night to attend to personal matters) I will be posting from the meetings in this thread. I will be reporting on Marlins acton here if I can find stuff out. Other stuff will be going in the general MLB section.

Enjoy!

What...like an insider? Or stuff that we can just read on the internet?

I live in Vegas, is there any way I can go to these Winter Meetings?

If I remember correctly, CT works for 790 the Ticket, I bet that has something to do this.

No idea, but I don't think he's on-air talent.

I am actually job hunting...but if i get any dirt I will pass it along. I am here for the job fair...came out from Connecticut.

and yes, I am an intern with 790 The Ticket, but that is not why I am here.

I just had the opportunity to meet Manny Colon, player development assistant. Very nice guy and if he reads the forums, thanks for taking the time to talk to every one of us. It seems like everyone out here is either from Miami or goes to school there, so there was quite a line to talk to him. Oh, and he showed me his WS ring which is pretty sweet!

no real updates at this point in time folks...just a lot of milling around. I met Gonzo last night...missed Lou Pinella at a club by 20 minutes...and you never know who will be at the blackjack table

This thread stinks. I get more news from the winter meetings walking down the street. :thumbdown

Interesting move. Lou was right all along. I believe you were the first to mention this scenario. Sounds like a good one to me.

NNY is the defensive king here.

I have an in

If I'm guessing right here, that articles seems to tell me that Cantu will be the starting 1st baseman, but also play 3rd. When a lefty is pitching, I assume Gaby will move to first, and Cantu will shift to 3rd. This is assuming Bonifacio doesn't win the 3rd base job and McPherson claims it. Of course, the article doesn't state that exactly, but I think it's a reasonable assumption, right? Anyone want to help me out?

I'll win this....I SWEAR!

I'm still interested in the two "mid-range" trade proposals that Beinfest mentioned here:

The Marlins had met formally with just two clubs as of Tuesday evening and made a pair of trade proposals that Beinfest described as being of mid-range importance. ? Dan Jennings, the Marlins' vice president of baseball personnel, spoke informally with the agent for Carl Pavano on Tuesday, but Beinfest said he had not spoken with Tom O'Connell and had no plans to do so "in the near future." ... Pirates catcher Ronny Paulino is on the Marlins' radar as a potential platoon partner with incumbent John Baker.

Marlins fielding teams interested in Andino

Pirates possible but nothing seems to be anywhere close..

Robert is out of options btw
