September 6, 200915 yr Crushing blow to the Marlins. When you are far behind in the playoff chase, you can't afford to lose games like that. BTW, when Lindstrom is healthy, he's better than Nunez.
September 6, 200915 yr Lindstrom should be the closer.  I agree, Lindstrom hasn't been half-bad since he's returned and is better than that POS Nunez right now.
September 6, 200915 yr Thank you Nunez. I stayed in this afternoon to watch you hand the game to the Nats after our team played well.
September 6, 200915 yr Author Before the walk off, I was terrified Fredi was going to throw Miller in there.
September 6, 200915 yr On a positive note, Ani looked good against a potent lineup, CC continues to rake, Maybin got on base twice and scored both times, Hanley hit another HanRamBam.
September 6, 200915 yr All signs point to us being 5 games back by the end of the day, so this loss is devastating. I'm already sick and now I'm feeling even worse. Dang it.

September 6, 200915 yr this is so f***ing frustating because if we had any type of money wed easily be a playoff team. we just cant go out and get guys at the deadlines, so i guess we shouldnt expect different. leo nunez is not a f***ing closer now, nor will he eer be.
September 6, 200915 yr Three things that annoyed me about today's game... 1) Cantu - swinging 3 and 1 at Ball 4 and hitting into a DP... a little patience and it would have been bases loaded and no outs, but inning wasted 2) Kiko - I had no problem with him coming in to clean up Pinto's mess...it's the 1-2 pitch to Morse that bugged me... On 1 and 1 Kiko throws one off the plate and Morse chased out of the strike zone... so WHY throw a 1 - 2 pitch right over the plate if the guy is expanding his strike zone... 3) Leo - I've had enough of him giving up home run balls... giving up 2 and not getting any out is just not acceptable... this was a game the Marlins should have won and would have been a great game for Ani
September 6, 200915 yr Before the walk off, I was terrified Fredi was going to throw Miller in there.  I would have rather had Miller in there. Our closers combined are worse than Lidge which is absolutely unacceptable.
September 6, 200915 yr For once, I was questionining Fredi (probably about the wrong thing, knowing my luck). Seeing that Pinto seemed to lose control after getting two outs, while allow him to walk the bases loaded? After Dukes got on and whatshisname getting that single, why not go to the BP then? The tying run is not in scoring position and you can bring in a guy in a little less pressure situation than bases loaded.
September 6, 200915 yr Nunez made me forget all about Fredi's idiotic moves in the 8th. Â BTW, it's really ironic how everyone wants Lindstrom to close, all of the sudden. Pretty funny. Knee-jerk reactions, FTW.
September 6, 200915 yr It might be time for a switch. Lindstrom has been solid in his return and Leo has had some trouble giving up the long balls. I'd give Leo one more chance but you really don't want to risk it right now so I think we should go to closer by committee. Whoever is available in the 9th weather it's Leo, Kiko, Lindstrom, Sanches or Meyer should close the game.
September 6, 200915 yr that is the kind of game that can destroy our season. BUT GUYS THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME......how many games can we recall, especially day games in washington where this stuff has happened. i didnt feel good about this game the entire time and i knew we needed to keep adding on and we didnt. i thought we dodges a bullet by getting those runs in the 9th but we managed to blow a 2 run lead on 5 pitches.
September 6, 200915 yr I wouldn't be surprised if Nunez is crying right now.  Naw, he's probably celebrating and chest bumping because he got Zimmerman to swing and miss before he gave up the long ball. The homerun hasn't registered yet.

Leo is 18/21, as a closer. Not terrible. If you're talking about him as a pitcher, though...not that great. 12 HR's is way too many...closer, setup, whatever...way too many.

Knee-jerk reactions, FTW.  Its not knee jerk at all. Lindstorm has shown that he's a good pitcher when he's healthy.
