Posted September 7, 200915 yr Chris pitched 4 innings. Gave up 5 hits and 3 ER. Walked 2 and struck out 7. A decent outing except for one thing... 2 of the hits were HR's... I think Volstad misunderstands the phrase "Chicks dig the long ball." They only dig it when you hit them Chris, not when you give them up!
September 7, 200915 yr I sure hope he figures out something in the offseason so he can correct his liability of giving up the long ball. It still baffles me how a guy who only gave up 2 HR last year has given up around 30 this season.
September 7, 200915 yr Seeing as the season ends today on Labor Day leaving him around for a few more starts really isn't an option.
September 7, 200915 yr Author Yeah, the MILB season is over. hmm but NOLA made the playoffs I thought
September 7, 200915 yr no NOLA was horrible. they finish with the 3rd worst record in the league Jacksonville and GCL team made the playoffs
September 7, 200915 yr Author Then they should make a losers bracket or something but still, Volstad needs to work on his control, and not in the Majors.
September 8, 200915 yr Depending on how West and Hurk perform their next starts, I could see Volstad working in the pen for a little bit.
September 9, 200915 yr Well now that Hurk seems to be hurt I'm not sure there is much that can be done. I would assume it's between Miller and Volstad if Hurk is actually out for his next scheduled start.
